Hi, My elderly father has just had a new boiler installed through Warmfront. Generally all good. He had to update his bonding, no problem, he did this to spec. His old Wylex fuseboard and circuits were tested by the spark. The spark said that his main earth was reading low to non...

    Walnut flooring

Hi, I will be purchasing some walnut engineered flooring soon. It is unfinished. Can someone recommend a hardwearing oil that will enhance the wood, not colour it. I would prefer a matt finish. Also, as the flooring will be here a week before it is laid, would it be better to oil it...

    Connecting oven and hob

Having looked at my oven installation instructions, it says "Do not connect using a 13amp plug'. Doh! It is a 3.3kw single oven. So, how can this and the hob ignitiion be wired?

    Connecting oven and hob

What is the best was to connect the gas hob ignition (13amp plug, would imagine 3a fuse) and electric oven (13amp plug). At present there is a flex outlet straight from the cooker switch. Can I change this to a 13amp fused spur and hardwire bother oven and hob to this? It looks like...

British Gas - not allowed to leave old parts on site?

I do, to check that bits have been replaced. it is good practice for garages to show you the parts removed and offer them back to you.

    DPC plaster

I need to chase into a wall in my flat for another couple of sockets. There is a damp proof course about 1.5 metres high all along the wall. The plaster is a grey/lightish blue colour. I assume this is special DPC plaster, does anyone know what it is called and where I might be able to get...

    Contemporary Garden Wall

I used 9 inch hollow concrete blocks, then rendered them. As they are retaining, they needed proper footings to be dug. I have to repaint every year.

lease does not permit wood floor, is this a good way round?

If the lease says no wood floor. That's it. Having lived under someone who had a wood floor. It is a f**ing nightmare. Dont try and bend the rules, they are there for a reason. If you need wooden floors, move.

    Water leak took out circuit.

My thoughts were there must be some sort of joint buried. I am going to give the dehumidifier a go for a couple of weeks and hopefully it will dry out. If not, it's out with the kango. Thanks for your thoughts.

    Fair price?

Had a quote to lay 10sqm of 600x600 black polished porcelain (not B&Q BTW). Tiles will have 2 coats of sealer applied before tiler starts. Tiler to supply all other materials. Subfloor is concrete. He came back with £450. Does that sound like a fair price? London based BTW. Thanks
