Thanks for the reply. So, some magnets at the top of the doors? Just pull away the doors to access the cupboard area? Any ideas how I would support them?

    Door solutions for 3.5m span

I am looking for any suggestions for a door solution for the eves of an attic conversion across a 3.5m span. I was considering a bi-fold door solution, making my own doors and purchasing the hardware so that the whole span could be opened up if desired making the whole floorspace usable...

Are building regs required for Loft conversion?

If you need help call the building regs people at your local council and get them to come and have a look. We had a really helpful guy round who is looking into solutions for our problems with stairs discharging into habitable rooms. They are there to help you and would rather you call them...

Moving a door in a plasterboard wall

Given this wouldn't it be less hassle to pull down the complete old partition and put up a new PB partition myself and then get it skimmed?

I am planning on moving a door in a plasterboard wall. Question: Is there an easy way to avoid expensive plastering work by cutting a hole the same size as the existing door and moving the old plaster and frame to the new hole? I was thinking of using a circular saw or similar to do this...

Greenstar 27 HE Central Heating only warm

It's 61 on the display on the boiler. I would imagine that is temperature in Celsius. I have reset the boilers max CH temperature and its now running at between 60 and 75. This is still not right as the service manual states it should run at nearer 100! Room thermostat is an RF one. I've...

Insultation in the rafters. Is there an official guide?

I won't be using a permanent staircase so it won't be an official room. Hence 2+1. A term estate agents use. I will be addressing means of escape though.

Insultation in the rafters. Is there an official guide?

I am beginning the first stages of insulating the loft at rafter level, with a view to converting the loft. This would also add an some extra insulation for the time being. The loft is already insulated, although poorly, at joist level. When the floor is replaced with proper joist this...

Greenstar 27 HE not firing although chimney sweep mode works

mmm you may have a point. The RF stat indicates that a signal is being received by the receiver by displaying a rotating fan when it receives confirmation. A green light on the receiver is also displayed and the relay can be heard in the receiver unit. Although I have actually checked to...

Greenstar 27 HE not firing although chimney sweep mode works

Hi The boiler is not giving any fault codes. I have an RF switch which is working correctly. The boiler fires up and provides central heating when the Chimney Sweep button is pressed. This leaves me to believe that it is either the built in programmer that is at fault or the...

Bending or concetrating infra-red remote beam

Hi We have sky+ and an XBOX 360 which sits at 90 degrees to our viewing position. Both appliances are sporadic at receiving IR signals from their remotes. Is anyone aware of something like a prism or bulb that I can put over the IR receiver to "bend" the signal? I would prefer...

What's the thing that keeps out rain called?

Our front door is missing the piece of plastic that stops rain running down the door and coming inside the door frame. I've seen it referred to as a "weather strip" "spline" and "rain bar" however serarches for these do not give a lot of results. Just looking for a cheap self adhesive...
