Negative or Positive head shower pumps

Thanks Richard Sent a q to ST and they have said need the Monsoon Universal 4.5 bar, that around £270, dug a bit and can get the Salamander ESP 80 2.3 bar for around the same money (excluding the bay). Question is which one! I don't quite understand why one is 4.5 and the other 2.3bar but...

Negative or Positive head shower pumps

Many thanks, but any views on the Salamander vs other makes, the ESP is around £300, but Tech do a 2 bar pump for £115 and also do a ultra silent one for about £250.

Negative or Positive head shower pumps

What's the difference? I think posative means pressured inlet and negative means no pressure inlet, is that right. May help if I told you the issue. Need to run two electric showers but don't want them running off the main due to the old problem of another outlet in the house gets turned on...

digging out a small tree stump

An axe is quite good as well, spent ages trying to dig round and break the roots with a sharp spade. If you hit the them with an axe much more likely to break and saves you blunting other tools like saws.

Cordless Drill that can drill through brick for ~£100?

Ok a little above budget but surely you can't go wrong with this. http://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dc100ka3-gb-combi-drill-18v/47038 3 Batteries, 1 Hour charge, carry case. £30 more but worth it.

    Core drilling

Thanks TGO, but what model is that? Got the Hitachi DH28PC for £209 delivered in the end (£299 at Screwfix), first impressions is it looks very small but seems to pack a good punch! Thanks all for your help.

    Core drilling

thanks, did consider the hiring option but need a SDS + in any event as has a lot of SDS + bits. Yep know about the hammer action. A plumber I used a few years back used a drill similar to the bosch above. Not sure if to opt for the cheaper version or get the Hitachi to replace my current...

    Core drilling

Hi All Looking on some advice as to what drill to use for core drilling, have 3 110mm holes and 2 45mm holes through a double thick brick wall to do. My Erbauer 5kg SDS plus drills clutch packed up and no longer can drill though the chiselling still works perfectly. Looking at the...

    DeWalt D25323K or Hitachi DH28PC

A mate of mine is a builder and was saying the same about DeWalt combi drills. But I've got a 18v XR2 which I purchased about 8 years ago. Its had some serious abuse over the years but is still faultlessly going strong. Not even a Li-on either. But everyone seems to moan about DeWalt these...

    Pipes in walls

Ah ok thanks, would something like aluminium tape do?

    Pipes in walls

May be being dumb here but are there any issues in burring copper pipes in the wall. The actual project is fitting a towel radiator and rather than run the pipe up through the (what will be a tiled) floor I want to channel the wall so they're concealed. The pipe will then be covered with...

    DeWalt D25323K or Hitachi DH28PC

The Bosch does look a decent piece of kit on paper but don;t think i can stretch that far, impact rate on the Hitachi is better than the Bosch (and DeWalt) though. Think i'll get the Hitachi, got to be better than the Erbauer one I had where the clutch went after hardly any drilling...

    DeWalt D25323K or Hitachi DH28PC

Any experience of these two, which one I should get or any alternatives? Can pick both up for around £200 new. Thanks

    Erbauer SDS+ drill

I'm pretty miffed at the corded one I bought, I'm not in the trade but heavy DIY-er. Used it very little for drilling mostly taking walls down and the clutch went.

Erbauer 6kg 3 function SDS Drill

Hi All Purchased one of these from Screwfix about three years ago (after using a cheap one for about a year and it burning out). Was very pleased with it and did not get much use until the last year where it has been used a lot. Anyway the clutch has gone on it so it’s fine still for...

How many coats to skim ceiling?

Hi Steve Looks like you have been PM-ed anyway. Yes using in date multi you should have plenty of time, stick one coat on clean your bucket and tools and then your pretty much ready for the 2nd. As I was saying with these smaller area what was annoying was finding something to do while it...

    tacking boards

I had a stack of nails left over from my loft conversaion in my old house, thought might as well use them and understand now why screws are better!

How many coats to skim ceiling?

I think it depends on the size of the ceiling. Just done my bathroom ceiling 1.7m x 3.2m, yes tough on the old shoulders but looks good. Polishing is always tricky on ceilings though. But personally would not tackle a bedroom or dining room etc say 4 x 4. No one mixing bar me but of course...

    Tripping MCB

Hi John I had a full survey done when I purchased the house but not a electrical survey. Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing and I know the new regs from 2005 but its a shocker what people do with no knowledge what so ever about electrics. I can only assume they like cold showers! I'm no...
