Using light ring to power CCTV cam

The Cam comes with a power lead that has the transformer combined with a plug (you know the sort, similar to the transformers on phone charges that are incorporated into the plug). so I need a the socket to plug into it. I bought Fsu (I had to google what this meant) in to the picture as an...

Using light ring to power CCTV cam

My kitchen is single story extension at the back of the house, and I've managed to squeeze in a pitch roof (rather than a flat roof). the pitch roof give me a small shallow loft area. I have multiple down lights in the kitchen and I can access the wires from the loft. The mains wire makes its...

Using light ring to power CCTV cam

The socket will actually be located in the loft area.. I'll be mounting the camera on the ceiling with the cables feeding through into the loft. Though the scenario has prompted me to perhaps install an isolation switch with say a 3amp fuse. Just incase the spiders decide to make them self's a...

Using light ring to power CCTV cam

@EFL... I've just had a look and although I thought it was 16A I can see that all my lights are running off 6A MCBs (I know it had a 6 in there somewhere) so.. its as expected but does that complicate my situation or is it still sound ok? @motorbiking... I would have loved to go POE, but to run...

Using light ring to power CCTV cam

Hello I want to install an internal CCTV camera in the kitchen facing the garden door. I need to mount the camera on to the ceiling (dome camera). The only way I can get power to the camera is by taking a feed from a near by downlight. Am I 'allowed' to do this? Would I be breaking any...

RCD trips but not the mcb

Thanks... So far things are Woking as they should then... Even though its not as I expected. This might be a basic question but anyone able to explain why I couldnt hang another socked off of the RCD socket? Is it a regulation thing? The isolation switch does have a 5A fuse.

RCD trips but not the mcb

Thanks all, I feel much better. So for my simple brain...RCD trips when there is an earth to neutral fault. MCB trips when the draw of current on a circuit is higher than what's rated on the MCB. Is that accurate? 333rock333 I wasn't around when the sparky did the install. I can only assume...

RCD trips but not the mcb

Hi I moved into my home 2 years ago, but before I moved in I had the place rewired top to bottom. The electrician installed a dual RCD consumer unit, and everything seemed to work well. A few months back my kettle developed a fault and it kept tripping the RCD, I was a little taken back because...

Using Zones on the Texecom RKP

The output isn't connected to anything. the PIR manual says that i should only be using 4k7 resistor on on the tamper, but the texecom panel manual says that i should use 4k7 on alarm and 2k2 on tamper. could this be the problem?

Using Zones on the Texecom RKP

This is this is the process I go through.. i punch my code, the RKP welcome me and asks if i want to arm the system. as soon as I hit yes, the PIR connected directly to the RKP starts to flash, and according to Pyronix this is something that the PIR does when its first powered up. the...
