    Leaning plants

Hi, I planted a syringa a few years and it has grown to be about 7 feet tall. The problem, however, with it is that rather than grow upwards in a straight line like the wall behind, it is leaning away from the wall. I thought about tying it back to the wall but it seems to thick stemmed now...

    Leaky shed roof

Sorry, yes I used galvanised felt nails. I said tacks as they are pretty small things. There are about 5 damp places and it looks like the water must get via the nails as it's dryer above that point. The felt overlap points downwards as well so the water can't run into that, the water must come...

    Leaky shed roof

Thanks for your input. It doesn't leak per se but in heavy prolonged rainy weather you can see that the wood is damp from the inside.

    Leaky shed roof

Hi, I re felted my shed roof but didn't use any water proof sealant glue etc, just banged in the tacks. I realise this was now an error because rain water seeps into the shed roof through the gaps in tacks. Any advice on how I can sort this? Thanks Matt

How do i make a hole in my shed?

All done, thanks for all your advice. I bought a hole saw, didn't realise you needed an extra bit as well that goes in the drill, so 25 quid in total. It made a hole bigger than the hole saw specification which was good. Two hours then of sanding and bingo! The wood was thicker than i initially...

How do i make a hole in my shed?

Hi, I need to put a vent at the back of my shed. I need a circular hole about 6 inches and then a tool to shave it a bit bigger in places. If it was normal wood, i would just drill, then use my handheld saw but the shed wood is flimsey panel and i dont want it to splinter. Is there a round...

Vent kit suggestions for tumble dryer

Thanks for the advice, that looks like a good cheaper option. Re steam drifting upwards outside, do you think it could damage the edge of the felt on top of the roof?

Vent kit suggestions for tumble dryer

Hi, I have finally got around to buying a tumble dryer for the shed and have an installation question. I suspect some form of venting kit would be best rather than just cutting a hole in the back of the wooden shed and poking the tubing through. Can anyone recommend a suitable one for a...

    Tired looking sleepers

Hi, Maybe a silly question but do railway sleepers in the garden look tired after many years? The rest of the garden is now spruced up and I am wondering if new sleepers around the decking, maybe brown, would fit in better. Can't decide if i am being pedantic!! Any gardener opinions...

    Hanging a picture

Thanks for the help. Yes it a wooden frame long picture. I think you guys have given me the answer i suspected which is unless they machine attached then the hardboard won't be strong enough? Eyelets sounds the way forward but that means bashing a new hole in the wall when I could just use the...

    Hanging a picture

Hi, Not sure if this is the right section but here goes. I have replaced the hardboard in the back of a picture and need to put hooks or something in the back of it. The existing ones in the old hardboard looked like a wheel with a cutting edge and must have been machine inserted so i...

    Switched live or live?

Apologies, i edited and looked at future postings wondering whether i should have put an 'edited' remark that i 'edited' my post. I decided against it having thought i have created enough confusion for the day, sorry if it compounded the confusion even more

    Switched live or live?

Arrggh, please help! I am replacing my in line extractor fan and can't get the wiring right. The input is red/brown and blue (two leads), looks like neutral has been cut right back but the extractor fan has 3 inputs, l, lt, n. I have connected the neutral to neutral and connected live to live I...
