Adding a timer to electric bathroom towel rail

Yeah - i've ordered so will let you know how it goes. The current spur is just in an external box on the drywall so will likely either fit it in the box (it's pretty deep) or just outside - it wont be forgotten! I've def ordered the 16A one so will see how it goes!

Adding a timer to electric bathroom towel rail

Yeah, i spotted that too, another reason for my trepidation...esp given the cost. If I went that route I was planning to buy from Amazon for their customer services. Very tempted to give the sonoff a try tho... it's <£10 delivered and if they're any good may help with the rest of my home...

Adding a timer to electric bathroom towel rail

I've seen those, but i don't want manual - the bathroom is off the back of the house so gets quite cold in the morning, idea is that rail will come on before we're up to warm the towels to a non freezing temp and then stay on to dry them a little bit...

Adding a timer to electric bathroom towel rail

We've just moved into a new house and there is an electric towel rail in the bathroom. I'd like to add a timer to it - i'm not really fussed what kind of timer and how it's set up, just the cheapest possible. At present, it runs to a fused switched spur outside the bathroom - obviously...

    Chimney Flashing queries

I have a couple of pics that I can post, but at the moment you cant see that much as there is a ton of rubble hidden away at the back (which i assume is the old pointing - we had it re pointed recently)... I'm going to head up on the ladder tomorrow and clear it off for a better look...

    Chimney Flashing queries

I have some damp coming from the top of my chimney breast and took a look and seems the flashing on the back of the chimney may be the cause... Got someone round to give me a quote and said £460, which a) seems a bit pricey to me, but b) I just can't afford at the moment... Been looking...

    Wiring a timed Extractor Fan

One other question I had, was if i buy a timed one and I discover I can't get the neutral from the light for some reason, is it possible to wire it to act as a non-timed version?

    Wiring a timed Extractor Fan

Thanks for the responses. There are windows in the bathroom, so it sounds like the extra switch is not required. I took a picture of the inside of the light switch as requested, tho not sure how useful it is - see: http://1drv.ms/1imX50i The humidistat fans seems to be a good idea, but...

    Wiring a timed Extractor Fan

We have a bathroom extension which is essentially sealed off from the rest of the house. I am unable to find or reach the junction box which serves it - the best thing I can access is the pull switch. I believe that I can run a non timed extractor fan from this without too much difficulty...

    Igniter on grill not working

Well, replacing the grill isnt an option... Any ideas what the part i'm looking for might be (and what it's called??) Is it just the white nub with the metal bit sticking out, or do I need to replace the connection etc? Thanks

    Igniter on grill not working

Yep, warming it up with a cigarette lighter it works fine, so appears it is temperature related... So... how do i fix it?!

    Igniter on grill not working

The ignitor on our grill has started playing up. It doesnt 'spark' when the grill is off, but when you manually light the gas, it instantly starts sparking again when you press the button. Just wondering if this is a common problem that can be easily rectified? I'm assuming the flow of flame...

    Chimney Repoint or Rebuild?

Lol - thanks. My main worry is that i'm going to wake up one morning with the chimney through the roof! (or even worse, the neighbours porch!)

    Chimney Repoint or Rebuild?

Thanks for your responses. I don't want to get rid of the chimney stacks as they wouldnt match the rest of the road then and therefore would be worried at the impact on house price. Agree - i thought both quotes were reasonable for the work suggested, I just want to be sure what the work...

    Chimney Repoint or Rebuild?

Absolutely nothing. The flue is shot, so we just have a decorative fireplace as we couldnt justify the cost for replacement

    Chimney Repoint or Rebuild?

When we moved into our house a year ago the survey said that the chimney's needed repointing. With all the wind and adverse weather we've had lately I've decided that it's probably about time we got around to this... I've asked a few local companies for quotes and interestingly have so far...
