Is this safe to knock down?

Thanks cpm25. Can anyone else confirm this? (sorry cpm, Im sure you're right, I'd just like a second opinion!) I dont really know how stairs are constructed, so it may be an obvious question. Im going off to look for some diagrams now (I presume all stairs are built the same?).

Is this safe to knock down?

Hi, Id like to remove the door surround on the understairs cupboard. Id also like to remove some breeze blocks from the wall. Ive removed some breeze blocks and added a bit of wood just to retain it for the time being. Here are some images: http://www.versatileinsurance.co.uk/1.JPG...

    How to deal with mould!?

These products look good: http://airexchange.com.au/natural-house-cooling Its only 2 windows that seem to be affected by this mould growth, so maybe getting a full house vent system is a bit overkill!

    How to deal with mould!?

Thanks guys, very useful. An electrician once told me of a fan you can install in the loft which keeps the air circulating and removes/deters mould formation. Have any of you heard of that? (Should this post be moved into another forum for that to be answered?) Other than have the window...

    How to deal with mould!?

Hi guys, I had some secondary glazing put in a few months ago. Since then Ive had mould develop around just two of the windows - I presume becasue of lack of air circulation and condensation. Im looking to paint every room in the house. How can I deal with this mould? Is there some...

    Very high water pressure!

rebuilder: Yes, the plumber didnt seem convinced that was the reason. I am in a valley, so maybe thats it.

    Very high water pressure!

Coincidentally I bumped into my plumber last night at a party. He said his gauge goes up to 15 bar and that my pressure was in excess of that! He said it maybe because Im below sea level. I've decided to have the reducer fitted. 15 bar sounds an awful lot. What in your views is the best...

    Very high water pressure!

Hi Agile, I dont remember what the pressure actually is - all I remember is the plumber's pressure gauge needle jumped to the maximum - so it's in excess of whatever a plumber's pressure gauge maximum reading is. By what you say it certainly seems sensible to have a reducer fitted. cheers

    Very high water pressure!

Hi all, My plumber checked my water pressure and it shot off his gauge! He said he's never seen such a high water pressure. He said he could fit a pressure reducer just after the stop cock. My issue is that Ive just nailed up plaster board over where the water pipes come in the house...

How much to run LED lights?

Thanks. big-all: That bulb looks good. Steve: I dont know how else to solve the issue. I've bought two motion sensor lights - but they behave unpredictably and I find myself having to pause at the top of the stairs and 'waggle my foot' to try and get the light to sense movement (Ive tried...

Stuart Turner water pump - worth anything?

Thanks guys. My immersion tank is really old and I didnt want to have to wait 1 hour for the water to heat up so I could have a shower - thats why I got an electric shower. I wished I'd thought of another solution though because my electric shower is really weak!! The plumber said that I cant...

Stuart Turner water pump - worth anything?

Hi, A plumber has recently done some work on the house and has made my water pump redundant (he installed an electric shower for me). The pump I have is a Stuart Turner Monsoon 1.5 bar pump. Is it worth trying to sell this on ebay and would anyone want to buy it? I know its a lame question...

How much to run LED lights?

Hi, I want to run some fairy lights in parts of the house that doesnt get daylight (stairwells etc...). I want these to be on 24/7. Are these cheap to run? Do all led light expend the same amount of energy - its just the amount of bulbs that dictate how much electricity they use? How can I...

Weak shower - will a new shower head fix it?

Hi have a 9.5kw electric shower. Its great that I no longer have to wait for the immersion tank to heat before I can have a shower - but the actual shower is weak and you never really feel like youre getting totally clean. Ive only had the shower for a few months and so dont want to have to buy...

Weak shower - will a new shower head fix it?

Hi, I have a really weak shower. The plumber had a look at it and said the first thing I could try and do is buy another shower head. Could this somehow fix it? Surely the flow/pressure would be the same no matter what shower head I buy. Thanks

burning house coal in a multiburner?

Hi guys, Ive recently installed a multiburner. I know that Im not supposed to burn coal in there, but I have three bags to use up (I stocked up last year when I just had a normal open fire). REALISTICALLY, is it OK if I chuck a few bits of coal on now and then? The manufatcurers say not to...

    Weak electric shower

The low pressure light hasnt come on the shower, and the plumber didnt say anything about the pressure being too low, so I presume theres just enough pressure for the shower to work adequately, but not 'effectively'. Thanks for quick response Burnerman.
