Hi folks,
I have a walk-in shower cabinet in my bathroom. It was installed around eight years ago and I have a black mould problem. I am happy to pay someone to reseal the shower cabinet but I'm not sure what this is going to involve.
The mould has gotten down into the glass panel mountings...
I have a downstairs loo with a leaky cistern, see picture of cistern with lid removed. The valve is clearly not seating properly so it's constantly leaking into the WC. How big a job is it to fix or replace this?
I was going to try to remove it to have a look but it all feels quite flimsy and...
I am considering having my roof retiled but I have no idea how much this will cost. Can anyone suggest what a typical price for a three bed end terrace house would be? I know there several factor that would affect the price but at this stage I'm only looking for an idea.
Also would the price be...
for the last few days waste seems to be back feeding into my downstairs toilet bowl. It cleans and flushes quickly with no apparent problem but after a while some waste appears in the bowl again. Is this coming from the drain in the street? I was thinking a blockage outside but when flushed the...
I need to upgrade my smoke alarms as a result of the new legislation in Scotland. I live in a three bedroom end terrace house with hall stairs and upper landing. My Combi boiler is in the cupboard under the stairs.
My understanding is that I need linked alarms with one in the living room, one...
One side of my shower cubicle has a slight leak through the silicone sealant. This has also gunged up with a brown fungus. I need to clear it out to reseal it and I'm going to have a go at doing it myself. What's the best way to get the old sealant out? (See pictures)
I have a Baxi Duo-Tec 33 Combi ErP combi boiler and it works well enough. The only problem is the time it takes to reach hot water temperature. When I turn on the hot water it can take from 30 seconds to one minute to reach full flow temperature. Sometimes it seems to almost reach temperature...
I have an electric Redring shower. The pray head has come loose and it won't tighten meaning that the shower head on the riser bar wont stay in position. The head has a screw that is meant to tighten the swivel head but it just keeps loosening off. I have attached pictures of the head and the...
I have sliding wardrobe doors in a bedroom that my wife wants changed. We've had them a few years. They're still OK but she's fed up with them.
I'm wondering if I can just buy new doors of the appropriate size and use the same rails? I've attached pictures of the rail and hangers.
I am going to have a bit of simple wrought iron fencing done on my small end terrace frontage.
L-shaped, it would be 7.3m x 1.9m with a gate in it and standard height, I don't know, about 1m?
How much is this likely to cost me?
I have a three bedroom house heated by a combi boiler. My wife and I are retired and at home most of the time.
I have the heating timed (Hive controller) to come on at 07.30 until 23.45. In cold weather (today for example) I am finding that in the mornings it takes three or four hours to reach...
We just changed to a combi boiler a couple of months ago. I am finding that we have to run the hot water for up to thirty seconds before it gets hot. Sometimes it runs hot then cold then hot again. It's a brand new boiler.
Is this typical of combi boilers (I have never used one before)?
I have an estimate to supply & fit a new Baxi Duotec 33 combi boiler to replace my old conventional boiler. I wonder if someone could have a look and let me know if this sounds fair?
Drain and remove old boiler
Alter pipework to suit
Remove HW Cylinder
Upgrade gas supply to 22mmm pipe
Supply...
My kitchen tap had a little wire mesh aerator/filter thing fitted to it (inside the nozzle) but it made the water flow too "smooth" and silent. I couldn't hear the hot water running and I was afraid that I would let sink overflow so I removed it and discarded it.
I am now finding that the cold...
I have an on-going problem in my house with an airlock in the HW system. This most commonly happens when we get up in the morning. I have a downstairs toilet and I used to clear it by forcing cold mains water from the cold tap into the hot tap using a piece of hose. Since we got our toilet...
I have a P shaped bath and the side panel has never been very secure. Recently one of the little clips fell off. It had been glued onto the underside of the bath rim. Can someone tell me what type of glue I should use to put this back on? Also where would I get another couple of these clips?
I am considering buying a new electric hob unit for my kitchen. Are these all of a standard size? By this I mean when I remove the old hob unit will the slot that has been cut out in the worktop below match any electric hob unit that I choose?
Units are standard 600mm.[/b]
Our integrated washing machine is on its last legs and we are looking to replace it. Our kitchen units are standard size with standard 600mm units.
Are all integrated washing machines the same size? In other words will any integrated machine I buy in the UK fit the standard space?
The roughcast on the front of my house has been badly damaged by the frost during this hard winter.
1. When is it safe to get this sorted?
2. I also need to replace my windows. Should I do this first?
