I need to upgrade my smoke alarms as a result of the new legislation in Scotland. I live in a three bedroom end terrace house with hall stairs and upper landing. My Combi boiler is in the cupboard under the stairs.

My understanding is that I need linked alarms with one in the living room, one in the hall and one on the upper landing. I also need a carbon monoxide detector to cover my gas boiler but it seems that these detectors should not be installed in a cupboard. What is the situation when the boiler is in a cupboard?

Also, is my understanding of the smoke alarms correct?

Looks like you need
1 x smoke upper landing
1 x smoke downstairs hall
1 x smoke living room (or the most frequented room)
1 x heat in kitchen
All above to be interlinked.
1 x monoxide detector (installed outside the cupboard door) This does not need to be interlinked.
I only use Aico products.

Thanks.

That is what I concluded. I have now ordered them from Amazon.
