Fitting a Magnaclean - Installation Location on System

From my examination of the Magnaclean installation guides, they recommend that the Magnaclean should only be fitted after the system vent pipe. I assume this is to comply with building regs, because the Magnaclean has isolation valves, and if closed, could stop the system venting? My problem...

    Digital DHW Tank Thermostat ?

I have a 'Terrier' stat fitted to my DHW tank, and noticed (like room stats) that its quite inaccurate when switching off/on for hot water. Its almost 10 degrees of a spread ! I've had a look and can find any digital stats for DHW tanks - has anyone come across one?

Potterton Promax FSB 30 HE - Yes or No?

now I'm probably going to open a can of worms, but I was going to take off all the radiators and flush them with a hose ! And currently in preparation for that I've stuck in as sludge remover which I intend leaving in for 4 weeks before doing the flushing. So I guess I'm questioning the need...

    TRV question

Thanks I thought as much ! I have a wall mounted room stat in the hallway, about 3m away from the hallway radiator, so I guess I just leave that radiator with standard valves? + auto bypass valve.

    TRV question

I'm about to upgrade my central heating system, and will be fitting new TRV's to the existing radiators - I seem to remember reading somewhere, thats it better to leave one radiator with standard valves on it - presumably so the boiler can never be pumping against a dead head - ie with all TRV's...

    Boiler Upgrade Advice

Hi, I have a rather old floor standing Gloworm Hideaway (60,000Btu/18Kw) output boiler. Its fitted in a utility room, under a 600mm kitchen unit. I suspect its somewhere in the region of at least 17 years old ! Although it runs perfectly, this winter 2 rooms were never quite warm enough...

    Flue question

Having given up on previous problems with an old Heatline combi, I'm about to purchase a Sabre (Vokera) combi for 350 quid. The vertical flue (100mm) on the existing boiler looks like new, and has all the roof fittings etc, so before I get someone to fit the new boiler, my question is can the...

    DSC Alarm System Advice Please

Hi, I have a DSC system that was originally installed by Scottish Gas. I think its about 10 years old. Its a wireless system, with battery operated PIR's. Its given me all sorts of problems, and last year, I managed to get an ex SG installer to service it, and for a while it worked fine...

Sound advice thanks - Unfortunately I cant get fuses until tomorrow (Monday), I'll pick up a diverter valve repair kit at the same time. I've heard mixed views on these boilers, but I'm no expert and cant really comment. This boiler is in a rented flat, and its been running fine for...
