    Painting a new door.

Thanks for all the replies again! D.S.D, it's oil I think. I've got some old undercoat/primer, which should do the trick. Actually, I could do with growing another head; my current one could do with the help! spice, they are off-white; definitely not on the greyish side. I think I'll go...

    Painting a new door.

Thanks for all the replies. What would be the best option for the bathroom door? danzx2, we used to get BLACK mold on the corner of the bathroom ceiling all the time. A new grill has been fitted in front of the vent near the corner and the paint we used was, I think, Johnstone's Kitchen...

    Wooden bed questions

Hi All. It's been nearly a year since I posted this topic and I just wanted to say that I did (eventually) make the bed and it seems to be as solid as a rock! Things fitted together just the way I wanted. It's certainly not been assembled using conventional methods and it may not be much...

    Small size of glass.

Thanks breezer/Diyisfun. Oh, so there is a normal drill bit in the middle and a circular cutter whizzing away around it at the same time, so you get two holes at once. I think I get it now. I'd ideally love to be able to just buy the thing. UPDATE - I asked again whilst calling for...

    Painting a new door.

Hi All, We've recently had some new internal doors fitted. I don't know what type they are but they look similar to the one in the picture below. http://www.wickes.co.uk/Multi-Purpose-Doors/Regency-Interior-Door/invt/200600&temp=largeimage&layout=popups They are about 33mm thick and...

    Small size of glass.

Hi TricklyT. Sorry, didn't see your reply till now, which is strange because your post was only two days after mine. Maybe I thought there was not going to any reply. Anyway, I need a thickness of around 6mm, so watch glass or torch would be too thin. 'How about using a diamond hole...

Gap under door and fitting a lock.

Thanks JohnD; really appreciate your taking the time. The piece of wood that you mentioned for the first question; wouldn't I have to remove the door to attach it underneath the door? 'file the edges of the hole' You know I never thought of that, thanks! Just for information, what if...

Gap under door and fitting a lock.

Hi All. Have three separate questions. There is too large of a gap under my internal door (about 2cm) and I don't want to take the door off and lower it because it will then leave a gap at the top. I am thinking of fitting a draught excluder, but before I do, I was wondering if there...

    Small size of glass.

Hi All. Is it possible to buy glass in the shape of a circle that is about 3cm in diameter AND have an 8mm hole drilled in the centre? I called my local but they say that the smallest circle they can do is about 15cm! If this is not possible, is there an alternative, such as perspex or...

How to stick holder to wall?

I suppose my two requirements contradict each other slightly, i.e. strong enough to withstand tugging but easy to remove, haha. Thanks for the info Bilioustrumpstaine. Will look into it.

Thanks noseall; do you mean the polish? http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-4987.aspx If so, which one?

How to stick holder to wall?

Thanks dave.m/foxhole. There is 8cm x 10cm surface area but it already has a foam spongy thing stuck onto it, which means that if I use foam tape, it will have to be stuck onto the existing tape and not the actual material the holder is made of, as I don't think the existing foam is going to...

How to stick holder to wall?

Thanks for the good advice Deluks! Maybe I'll have to drill after all; it's just that the roll holder is plastic and it's just what I was looking for; they don't make these in metal or 'good quality'. I don't think it'll break, but I'm wandering what if it does or we DO find a better...

How to stick holder to wall?

Hi All. I want to stick a toilet roll holder to a tiled wall but am trying to avoid using screws in case we ever want to replace the holder with another one and have to drill more holes, ruining the tilework or want to remove the holder completely, leaving ugly screw holes in our beautiful...

    Sticky Residue Removal.

Thanks JohnD/trazor. I appreciate your helpful replies. Now that I know what to use, how do I actually clean it off? Do I just apply the chemical, wait a while and then wipe off or will it need some scrubbing? If so, what do I scrub it with? Cloth? Sponge? The last time I cleaned something...

    Sticky Residue Removal.

Hi All. I've seen the replies to the thread with the masking tape, however, my material is plastic which has a chrome coloured finish. A sticky label has been stuck to it, which I've removed but the sticky residue has been left behind. Since it will be very delicate, how should I remove it...

    Shower Head Suitability.

Hi Bahco. The reason I bought it was for the off switch! Think it will have to returned to where I bought it from then. Thanks for your helpful advice.

    Shower Head Suitability.

Thanks for the reply Bahco. The shower head has an off switch so that you can turn the water off from the head and not have to switch the main switch on and off, but it says that it will trickle to remind you that the main switch isn't off. Does having an off switch make a difference to your answer?

    Shower Head Suitability.

Hi All. On the packet of a shower head, it says - 'Not suitable for low-pressure water boilers such as wood, coal, oil or gas water heaters and open electric heating devices. Risk of injury if pressure is too high.' Is the above shower head suitable to use with a combination water...
