Need two zone heating system upgrade

yeah I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, the pipes currently go round a very complex area in the house. To be honest that one radiator is in a bathroom so I'm not that worried if it comes on with both zones. could I just install two values just after the obvious T junctions and let that...

Need two zone heating system upgrade

hi, I'm just about to embark on adding a new zone to my central heating system. At the moment I am servicing my flat with my boiler and a honeywell wireless thermostat. I'm just finishing off a new flat in the front of my building which will be used less than the main flat. What I'd like to do...

    150mm roof vent

Thats great, just what I'm looking for. Finding those at my usual online supplier and checking their other products lead me to what I need. I'm going to use a "Ubbink UB41 Universal Ubiflex Service Terminal & Adaptor" as this will do the job. cheers. love this forum :)

    150mm roof vent

Hi all, hopefully this is fairly straight forward question. In the past I've installed 100mm(4") fans and roof cowls and they are nice and easy to get hold of etc. Now I've installed a 6" fan in my kitchen to meet new regulations, I can't find a 6" roof cowl any where. Unfortunately I've no way...

New Water Main, above ground insulation?

hi all, I'm trying to prepare my trench for the new water main, however there are a couple of complications. The pipe has to pass through my rear property which is higher up then the main property (we are on a hill) and at this time I have not decided on whether to dig out the open basement...

Correct reg requirements for walls / ceilings?

hi all, just been wondering what the standard is for a new wall between a commerical room and a residential room. The current wall/cieling has 2 sheets of 9.5mm plasterboard, but I have to extend the wall and ceiling and wondered if I should just use the same or improve the whole thing...

    Using Lime?

Buying Lime is terribly complex, I think they should rename the two to stop all this confusing, and probably simply the overall terminology! I reckon this complex information side will keep people away from using it. For example I've never heard anyone tell me how they make cement, but everyone...

    Using Lime?

thanks for your views, yesterdays test brick set nice and hard so today I have been using 3 to 1 mix all day. a quick question, does it matter if you mix lime/water or lime/sand fist? and what if you don't mix for 20mins? From what I've made so far, I'm actually preferring it to...

    Using Lime?

hi, I've read a ton of stuff on this new fangled Lime business, but it just leaves my head spinning. I can see why people stick to cement! so here's my scenario, I bought a 25kg bag of NHL 3.5 and a tub of Lime putty. Thought I'd try them both out. my questions, how do I mix them up...

    Structure Calculations over the top?

can't use steels due to heritage reasons. I wanted to go hard wood but our engineer didn't know the calculations for hardwoods.... should have jumped ship after that, but he'd already done a load of work elsewhere... anyway I've ordered the timber, just wanted to get a feel for other people...

    Structure Calculations over the top?

these are beams spanning 4.2m to support the floor joists which will span max 3meters between beams.

    Structure Calculations over the top?

hi, A fiend of mine recently had some work done, and there structural beams seem to be totally over the top, from a visual point of view. I have just had some calculations done by a different engineer and these seem totally over the top too. I'm renevating a place so I'm replacing some older...

    Kitchen cabinet and support noggins

cheers. so typically no standards then. guess I'll have to choose which kitchen is going in then.

    Kitchen cabinet and support noggins

hi all, I'm just about to plasterboard my new kitchen area, and thought hang on I could really do with some timber rails around the perimeter to support the cabinets. Does anyone have any advice on the best height placement to support this? I could go and buy a couple and measure them but...

Central heating design causing cold rad?

thanks for all the tips, I've restricted all other LS to less then 1/4 turn, they are noisy now, but it appears heat distribution is better. next time I drain the system I will upgrade the available pipe work and this should improve the flow to the final 4 based on the KW ability of the 15mm...
