Gas boiler pipe size - old 15mm, new 22mm!...

bengasman - depends on the total no. of sections (max amount). it would be 4 metres plus 4 elbows @ 0.5 metres each = 6 metres. X max no. of sections - then from chart, find next size up.

Rads not fully heating up / taking ages .... range rated boi

Sorry while i'm on here can i ask a simple gas question : I have a range rated boiler - and it seems like it struggles to heat up all my rads fully, we have had 2 added in the summer though. I was thinking it could be the boiler stat set too low, but this is now at top range setting...

Gas boiler pipe size - old 15mm, new 22mm!...

3 fires?!! if you had 1 fire 1 cooker and 1 boiler, you need to calculate each section separately. Eg meter to boiler is furthest away and has most number of sections between meter and boiler, for eg 3. You work out length from tee to boiler (that own individual section, ie section b-c)...

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

No, this would be if no Hot water froma 3port wouldn't it? if there power on the 3 port grey wire terminal it would mean a dodgy programmer sending false signals though wouldn't it, and keeping the 3 port in the h/w closed (heating port only open) position. ?

Gas boiler pipe size - old 15mm, new 22mm!...

To calculate gas pipe size, you need to multply each length (including fitting resistances etc) by the maximum number of sections on that pipework. This ensure when all appliances are on at the same time, no more than 1mbar drop is at each appliance from the meter outlet to the appliance inlet...

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

Thank you for helping. I have used a multi meter and there was power to the white wire of the 3 port valve, so the room thermostat was calling and sending power to it. Is it easy enough to get an actuator, I only saw whole valves or motors in the shop. Where can I get a new actator from...

Gas boiler pipe size - old 15mm, new 22mm!...

So the gas pressure was too low due to a partially/blocked injector or undersized/blocked supply pipe...? I'd never do gas work DIY. it is not worth it.

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

Hello, I put my heating on last night for the first time afte the summer and it didn't come on. I have a 3 port mid valve (Honeywell V4073A) and the manual lever had resistance on it, so nthe motor is not moving over. All wiring is fine and tight and the programmer was on for heating. I...

expansion vessel - recharging and push fit query

Hi I have 2 questions if anyone can answer them ? 1) i believe my expansion vessel inside my system boiler has lost charge naturally, every time heating has been on these past few dfays, the gauge needle rises and the prv discharges water. then the gauge reads 0 again and i have to top...

new home, long wait for hot water

Hi MY sister has a combi. I prefer the hot water cylinder myself. running it slower will probably make it a little hotter, but basically won't really improve the time it takes to heat up at the tap. it is just the design of the boiler/pipe run length/flow rate in general.

    Boiler stat failure? how?

yeah i know that, oh i see i get it now, the water in the pipes is a lot hotter than that in the pipe itself, which will get to about 80ish...? I suppose if the boiler stat fails and sticks in the on position then the room/cylinder stat won't cut out in time before it boils/pumps over?

    Boiler stat failure? how?

Boiler stat failure on older boiler on open vented systems, if no overheat stat would lead to the water boiling and pumping over into the header tank. My neighbour had this problem 2 weeks ago and had to get it sorted, but I was thinking... why would this happen? I too have an older boiler and...

Hi I have just re-filled my heating and primary circuit and there was a problem with air traped, so i back-filled thre system from a low draincock. Water comes into the header tank and over the vent pipe and my concern now is, with the level this high, when the hot water is on this evening...
