Hi

I have just re-filled my heating and primary circuit and there was a problem with air traped, so i back-filled thre system from a low draincock. Water comes into the header tank and over the vent pipe and my concern now is, with the level this high, when the hot water is on this evening pumping over will happen as the level is set too high in the vent pipe. To correct this, is it done by draining a small amount again from a draincock at low level or by bailing out water from the feed tank into a bucket until the water level is low down again? thanks.

either way will do just to bring level down
You need to drain/remove enough water from the F/E tank so the ball valve just begins to open when the level is about an inch above the outlet at the bottom of the tank with the system is cold. If necessary, the arm of the ball valve should be bent to get the level right.
