    Firedoors

Thank you as always. The building control said all doors needed to be replaced onto stair enclosures. She said they needed 3 steel hinges and strips. I didn't want them but she said it's a must. This is for a loft conversion

    Firedoors

Hi my builder is fitting firedoors and has given me a choice. He said he could fit intumescent strips into a router gap on the doors or attach strips to frame. I'm getting oak composite firedoors Im not sure which to choose.

    Fire doors

I've got nice 35mm oak doors but part of planning says i need to replace them with fire Doors. It's a shame but has to be done. The new doors will be 44mm and the door jams are replaced. Will this leave a gap on the gripper? Do they also need replacing?

    Painting upvc windows

My mum has mahogany upcv windows and was going to replace them all. However she asked me about getting a company in to paint them white. I see some companies on line who spray them. Has anyone ever had it done? Any thoughts or recommendations please?

New heat alarm goes off randomly

I had a problem with this alarm. It turned out one of them had been hard wired instead of being wireless. Electrician didn't realise. Might be worth checking other alarms to see if they have more wires

    Replace grp

I had loft conversion and the bc plans had a 3 layer felt. However the builder put a grp fibre one down. It looks great and will last a long time. However in heavy rain its a noisy. Is it easy to felt it now or put a epdm on top? Just trying to reduce noise.

    FENSA certificate with loft conversion?

You might not want to lose a sale. However a buyer has more to lose at this stage. They will either ignore it or tell them they can pay.

    Unlawful loft ?

My house had a rear extension when I bought it. It was built around 1990. My solicitor tried to insist that the sellers show me the building certificate. They told him to poke it (PD). I still bought the house and then knocked it down in a few years later.

ring your planning office and ask them. I don't know. I had one done on a semi with a dormer and I could do it under PD. I went full plans as I was close to 50cm.
