Thanks. I just wondered if I could have used ordinary fibatape but I guess I will be going to Topps to get the alkaline fibatape.

    Do I need a Powerflush?

I am having a new condensor boiler and 6 new radiators put in my new extension using plastic piping. There will also be 7 existing radiators, which have copper piping. The new boiler will have a magnaclean filter put in. Now I am getting mixed messages about powerflushing. One plumber says...

Steel Gas Pipe and New Boiler

Okay if the 15mm is too small, can the plumber connect from the steel pipe under the kitchen floor instead, which I think is still 1 inch in diameter. What size should it be for a Worcester 30CDi boiler?

Steel Gas Pipe and New Boiler

Had another look at the pipework. What's happening is from the gas meter is 22mm cooper pipe (approximately 0.2m), which then joins onto the old 1 inch steel pipe (that was originally in the house), then somewhere under the kitchen floor it becomes 15mm cooper pipe, onto which the old boiler...

Steel Gas Pipe and New Boiler

Forgot to mention that it is 1 inch steel gas pipe from the gas meter and then somewhere under the kitchen floor the pipe connects to a 15mm cooper gas pipe. The new boiler is going to be connected to the existing 15mm gas pipe. Would this be all right? It's just our plumber said he...

Steel Gas Pipe and New Boiler

The steel gas pipe is about 1 inch in diameter. Definitely steel, checked it with a magnet. The boiler on the other hand is going to be about 11.5 metre away from the gas meter. Would this be a problem for the gas pressure?

Steel Gas Pipe and New Boiler

We are having a new condensor boiler put in and our plumber who is gas safe registered said that due to the latest legislation, he cannot connect the boiler to the existing gas pipes because the incoming gas pipe coming out of the gas meter is steel. The house was built in the 1950s if that is...

    Which Honeywell TRV?

I'm after a basic Honeywell TRV and I've whittled it down to Honeywell VT15 or Honeywell VT117E. I can't seem to tell the difference between them besides the aesthetics. Are they basically the same functional TRV? What are the differences? Thank you for any responses.

    Which JCT contract?

The FMB contract states that payments are every 14 days whilst we want payments to be in stages, DPC, joist level, eaves levels, roof complete, 1st and 2nd fix. Do you think we could just cross out the 14 days and put in what we want? And what about the joint account business? Can we...

Double Storey Side Extension and Single Storey Rear Extensio

I don't know what it is like elsewhere but around Bristol/Bath all the builders I have spoken to seem to be really busy. Anyone, if I had 100K laying around, I think I would try and move house instead of building a shell, followed by all the legwork and heartache of decorating and building...

Double Storey Side Extension and Single Storey Rear Extensio

The house is currently a 3-bed semi built in the 1950s with garage on the side, which will be demolished. It will be a brick and block construction with the existing roofline extended over the double storey, made up of "flat" concrete roof tiles. There is nothing fancy about it and definitely...

Minimum 0.4 bar pressure and basin mixer tap

Can you fit a basin mixer tap that requires a minimum of 0.4 bar onto something that is measuring between 0.35-0.37 bar but definitely below 0.4bar? Is it a good idea in the long run? Will the ceramic disc become more damaged more quickly? Thanks you for your advice.
