    question regarding radiator fit

Thanks. I think I’ll just return those extensions and buy one of these two instead. The first one I could just cut down to size using a pipe slicer. I need to extend by approx 35mm. Any reason not to proceed like this?

    question regarding radiator fit

I have indeed purchased a 1500 rad, but it’s going to replace one that’s approx 1535, hence the need to extend. If take the Screwfix extension in my previous post, saw it in half, replace it with a chrome 15mm pipe cut to the right size, fit the 1/2 in male thread in the pic over the pipe and...

    question regarding radiator fit

Thanks, I bought a couple. I’m probably missing something here, but while I can fit one end of the extension into the radiator, the female thread of the other end (right in the pic) seems way to big for the 1/2 inch male thread of the TRV/LS. Please advise. Also, to replace the chrome pipe...

    question regarding radiator fit

Thanks for the advice. I'll go for the 1500mm option then. I'll have to look elsewhere than Screwfix as they don't seem to do them and that's where I was looking.

    question regarding radiator fit

Hi, I wish to replace the old imperial-sized radiators in our house, total of 9. Two of these old ones measure 1540mm in width and would, according to my BTU calc, be replaced with 1400mm rads. The TRV extensions I see available on the market don't extend to the difference required (140 mm)...

    Animals under roof tiles?

Hi, Two years ago we had our loft converted into a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, including a total of 5 roof windows. Lately I've heard the sound of tiny steps above us when in the loft and have assumed it was just pigeons walking around on top of the tiles. Today however I opened a...

    Unable to start Stihl strimmer

Also worth noting is that one of the two bolts that binds the green part between the carb and the engine block seems to turn loose. see pic below (before cleaning!). The part stills seems tight against the block, but could that be the source of a leak that causes poor compression and hence no...

    Unable to start Stihl strimmer

ok, I see. I haven't removed the spark plug yet to check for petrol on it but in the meantime, I notice that when I remove the fuel line to the carb after priming for a while, there is quite a bit of pressure built up in there and upon removal petrol squirts all over the place. Is that normal...

    Unable to start Stihl strimmer

Hi, I'm seeking help here to start my Stihl strimmer (pic below with air filter removed). I took it apart for a good clean having previously purchased it used and running albeit not very well according to the previous owner. I couldn't start it after re-assembly, so I played with the H and L...

    Toilet blockage question

Hi, just wondering if anyone could explain the following to me. Our downstairs wall-hung toilet (see pic below) seemed to fill up quite high when flushed this morning. So I suspected blockage, got a coat hanger out but couldn't seem to find anything. So I removed the toilet bowl all together...

How do I replace a radiator with a slightly wider one?

Thanks DavidSWP but this is on the ground floor and there are no floorboards, just screed below the tiles I suspect. I wonder how much work it is to alter pipe work in screed?

How do I replace a radiator with a slightly wider one?

I was going to remove and replace the tiles anyway, so maybe I can access the pipework. What should I expect below? Screed? How easy is it to alter the pipework in the screed if that's the case? Thanks.

How do I replace a radiator with a slightly wider one?

Hi, I wish to replace the rad in the pic below in our downstairs toilet as part of a complete refurbish of the room. The new rad (left in the the pic below) is also a nominal 500mm wide but with the TRV and L/S, the assembly is actually approx 70mm wider than the old one. How do I get around...
