Title says it all really, don't laugh, (ok, you can laugh) but the knockouts are determined to stay put! Don't want to scratch the paint to bits, so anyone any tips for best practise please?

Worcester Greenstar 24i junior - No Central heating.

Hi Stickle and anyone else following this thread with a similar fault, I see the OP hasn't been on here for sometime, and I trust all is well! Just wanted to look at Stickle's album pics mentioned, but being told there isn't one! My own Digistat is the T45 model, does anyone know if the 'fix'...

    pattress screws with locating ends

Hello All, any idea why these 3.5mm screws, the type normally supplied with sockets, switches, etc, which have an unthreaded tip to facilitate locating into the threaded tab, are apparently unobtainable? All the ones I've seen for sale recently are just threaded right to the end...or can anyone...

    washing machine castors?

Hello All, my neighbour recently had the w/m repair man out from KnowHow, and to pull the w/m out without ripping the cushion floor, he had what my neighbour describes as cups with ball bearings on the bottom, and he lifted the front of the w/m up and inserted these cups under the front feet and...

    washing machine drain connection

Hello All, my daughter has recently had a new kitchen installed, and the fitter has plumbed in a kind of U-trap under the double sink that I've never seen before as it includes a nozzle (which is currently plugged), and apparently is intended for the washing machine drain pipe to be pushed onto...

    iron water pipe dilemma

Thanks for your comments..I'll certainly look into these universal plastic couplers...one I've just found is called a Talbot Gripper. 'groan' there's so much concrete from house to street stopcock plus steps down to street level....would just have to put entire pipe renewal for a not-so-rainy...

    iron water pipe dilemma

Wow thanks everyone, it's getting to be a real learning curve..especially knowing the proper names of the components- that longscrew connector especially. And thanks for the warning, footprints, re the backnut to that connector. Don't we 'do' dielectric connectors over here...seems to be a big...

    iron water pipe dilemma

Rip it up...ouch! that's going to cause massive disruption to the fabric of time, space, and everything. And to make it slightly more challenging, the mains stopcock in the street is shared with next door. A question about Stilsons....I always thought that they were the same thing as...

    iron water pipe dilemma

Hello All, wonder if you can help/advise me here... my daughter has a 1920s house and I want to re-route the water pipe into the kitchen. Currently, the incoming feed and stopcock are in the adjoining toilet, in 1/2" iron pipe. From the stopcock, the iron pipe rises to a T-piece which feeds the...

    Earth rod advice

Thanks all for your very helpful and informative replies. Never encountered T-T system and earth rods before...(this is an overhead-supplied power cable in Wales.) Did the 16th edition just before it changed to 17th out of interest...was a computer tech in another life. Apart from that, did a...

I'm 16th edition certified, but not up on 17th, and was intending to fit a twin rcd CU myself-around £80 from Screwfix- but am vague regarding earth bonding regs and whether even gas pipes should now...
