    Which oven

The board hasn't gone in yet. Have measured the cables. Got a 6mm cable for hob and a 6mm for the microwave/combination oven. Then a 5mm cable for the normal oven.

    50% or 33% stagger

Hi, Having bathroom tiles 30cm by 60cm done and was wondering what the best stagger would be. We have just had the ensuite done and the box actually said 33% stagger. These other tiles don't suggest anything. Don't mind the look of either but wondering what the norm is? These are the...

    Which oven

Thanks. Looks like the cable is the size between a standard socket cable and a 10mm cable so hopefully that caters for a 7.4 KW hob.

    Which oven

Can you raise the ridge line within 150mm threshold in PD or does it need planning permission?

Solicitors don't drive round houses checking roof heights. They will see you had work done and check everything is in place. Certificates etc. They won't measure up the roof. How many of your neighbours would know the rules about permitted development? And of the ones that do be bothered to...

Can you raise the ridge line within 150mm threshold in PD or does it need planning permission?

I would have just kept quiet. How were the council going to find out other than you alerting them to the issue. In my opinion (I'm not an architect of course) would be to just ignore it and get on and enjoy it. The council are too busy to go chasing around checking these sorts of things and...

    What type of shower

Interestingly the taps everywhere in the house have poor flow except the outside tap. The plumber is replacing the stopcock as its old and leaking.

    What type of shower

Though I'd report back. Water board came out. Flow at the road was 16 l/min. Flow at outside tap in garden was 12 l/min. Flow at the kitchen sink was 6 l/min. Now there isn't much pipe work between the stopcock and the two taps mentioned above. Plumber is going to investigate. Surely this...

    New boiler size

Hi, Replacing my old Potterton 24 eco boiler but looking for something as small in physical size as possible so it can be boxed into a kitchen cupboard. The plumber doing the work said the Atag boilers are very big. Quite a vague question but does anyone know which combi would be suitable...

    Knock through lintel

Thanks. The drawings show this as a flat ceiling so I'll find out if there was anything preventing this. If there wasn't I'll get this raised as will look better.

    Knock through lintel

Hi, We have knocked through on the 1st floor to the new over garage extension. I have noticed the new lintel on the knock through is lower than the existing ceiling so the landing comes down at that part before then going back up to the normal ceiling height over the garage. Was wondering if...

    Planning permission - now what

Just to play devils advocate is a builder who needs guidance on building regs for such a simple extension really a builder?

    Planning permission - now what

There is no guarantee you'd find a designer capable of producing adequate drawings. Producing drawings for building control to approve is very different to drawings with the necessary details for builders to use.

    Which oven

Just so I'm clear what I need to ask for. Just run a 10mm cable for each appliance and also enough sockets in case we need them if we ever change the appliances in the future?

    Which oven

I suppose I just want to keep my options open for choosing the appliances. I won't know until nearer the time the exact models of each

    Which oven

Looking at a standard electric hob not induction. Then a single owen and a combination oven microwave on top (instead of a double oven). There are so many to choose from!
