How to trim a door jamb along its internal edge? Door won't close properly

Didn't need to alter the hinges, in the end. Trimmed about 2mm off the inside edge of the jamb with a multitool sander. Works perfectly

Making angled MDF wardrobe carcass secure

Hi all. Am making a wardrobe carcass from 22mm MDF. The top of carcass will be angled to fit the sloping ceiling, as per the picture attached. What is the best method of securing the angled MDF panels (highlighted by red circles in the picture), so the carcass will remain in place? I'm...

How to trim a door jamb along its internal edge? Door won't close properly

Obviously I run the risk of removing too much, and affecting the look of the jamb/doorway. But I think this is unlikely, and is worth the risk!

How to trim a door jamb along its internal edge? Door won't close properly

Good point, I hadn't even considered a detail sander. My solution was much too complicated . I might give it a bash today.

How to trim a door jamb along its internal edge? Door won't close properly

Hi all. My lovely new internal door won't easily close because the inner/hinge-side edge of the door is too tight against the jamb, when it's being closed. I want to trim a mm or 2 off the inner edge of the jamb, so the door can close properly, and sit flush against it. I'd prefer to do it...

Deteriorating hot water temperature from one (mixer) tap - no clear solution!?

Good question. I just edited my original post. I think I might have two systems, with this bath - potentially - fed from a tank. boiler might be doing all the other outlets, hence them being ok. Tank seems hot though, so might be another issue

Not sure, but I think so (cos of the connected wires)

Deteriorating hot water temperature from one (mixer) tap - no clear solution!?

If I turn the hot tap on and then turn the valve highlighted in yellow off, then a very slow tiny trickle of water continues to come out. The other valve (highlighted in blue) is too difficult to turn. Am actually starting to wonder if I've basically got two hot water systems in the house...

Deteriorating hot water temperature from one (mixer) tap - no clear solution!?

Hi all. Any obvious reason why this mixer tap is delivering increasingly cooler water? Was never very hot to begin with, but is now delivering only lukewarm/cold water. Flow seems ok. Boiler, CH and all other taps above and below this one are all working fine. Any advice much appreciated

    Confusing odd situation!

Hi all. Is there any reason my voltage tester pen would continue to give me positive readings from all the sockets on a particular ring, despite me switching the whole ring off, checking with a multimeter, and double-checking by plugging appliances into the sockets? Ring is off at circuit...

    Leak from conservatory roof

Anyone have an idea why a slow leak (5 drops of water this morning; no rain, but freeze-thaw conditions outside) would appear at the apex of this conservatory roof? Aside from the flashing and roof surface being slightly 'away' from the window (I've since pushed them back against the window)...

Sliding wardrobe doors with an angled/sloping ceiling...design question

Think I've found the solution thanks to another forum member: there's likely a rail on the middle shelf (think you can see it on picture 2 if you zoom in) to which the door will be attached.

I bet that's right. Cheers, that's clever Edit: you can actually see it on the second picture, if you zoom in! Thanks again

    sliding door/angled ceiling question...

Hi all. Planning to build some sliding wardrobe doors in a room with an angled/sloping ceiling. I'd like the smallest door - the door that doesn't reach the top of the wardrobe - to still be able to slide like the others (just like in the pictures, attached). The issue is that because it...
