Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately the nut on the plastic connector will not undo. There is a valve already fitted to the toilet.

    Replacing a UVPC window hinge

How easy is it to do ? After you have removed the hinge, is the other hinge strong enough to hold the window whilst you fit the new hinge ? I should imagine it is but would just like your opinion. Thanks in advance.

Thanks both. The big nut on the outside has been tightened with a large adjustable spanner and was tighter than finger tight. I had hoped I would complete this job tonight but it will go into tomorrow. Thanks again

    Replacing a toilet syphon

I am just replacing a toilet syphon and noticed that the original installer put silicone sealant between the cistern washer and the threaded part of the syphon near the hole that goes into the toilet pan. I scrapped the old sealant out but didn't put any new sealant down to replace it. I now...

8.5kW Electric Shower - Cold in the morning, Warm at night

Our Triton shower runs lovely and warm in the evening but stone cold in the morning. Any ideas on why this is ? We can only conclude that it is a water pressure issue with more people using water on our estate in the morning before they go to work. I would replace the shower but it...

Changing a Drayton MA1 actuator - like for like

Thank you for the replies. I spoke to an electrician mate and he was certain that the MA1 would be at fault for this problem. I didnt realise that you could remove the actuator head from the 3 way pipework. It certainly makes life a lot easier and ther job should take less time.

Changing a Drayton MA1 actuator - like for like

Thanks for the post. I understood that the MA1 actuator is faulty because when the gas boiler is turned on to heat the hot water , the radiators get warm and the water is luke warm. Is that not correct ? Thanks in advance.

Changing a Drayton MA1 actuator - like for like

I got myself a Drayton MA1 actuator from my local plumber merchants and am looking to install it myself. I cannot see it being much of a problem - hopefully the wiring colours will be the same and it is only doing up 3 fittings. I know I need the drain the tank down. If I close the supply...
