OK, a futher update.........
I asked the so called roofer to provide me an invoice for the work. I said that on receipt of that, I would have the work inspected by a professional and if he qualifys the work as acceptable I will pay him without question. (I was safe in the knowledge that this...
Dear All,
Just in case anyone wondered I went down the floor and scraped about 2" of soil, rubble, stones etc etc etc from under the house. Took a long time, and filled a couple of trailors; but never seen a fly since!!!!

Thanks all.....Thankfully I didn't have over any money (and it was not cheap either).
Out of interest, can any provide information regarding if that lead was new or not? I am not convinced that it is new. Its the left hand side only.

Dear All,
I have had endless trouble with a leaking roof in my house. Eventually, I was advised by a roofer to replace the rotton zinc valleys with lead ones. I got a price, which seemed reasonable considering the price of the lead. The guy said that actually he would not remove the zinc but...

We're not allowed to drill into the tiles, (which is daft as I could just replace them) so I can't install a shower head holder or a shower rail.
Any tips...

I have pretty much sorted this by moving all the stones from under my house, opening up the vents and letting time go...
Ha ha... I have been honest, there is no traffic warden under the floor :D
Do you think it would be worth renting a fume extractor for a week and sucking air out. Would that speed up the process of getting rid of the smell?

I have not. I had a large claim two years ago, and it push my payments through the roof. I don't want to make a claim unless I really have to.
Any ideas who they would contact?
