    2.5mm versus 4mm flex

Requiredd 4mm and 2.5mm flex for an oven and hob. Got it from an electrical supplier, the 2.5mm was printed on one flex, but just the "heat/butyl" code on the other something like "H05 2v2v", but no cable size. I can "barely" distinguish the difference betwen the cable when I look at it ...

    Testing for Bridges and r1, r2, R1+R2

    1. Ring: I have cross connected phase and neutral at the CU and measured resistance at each socket to confirm no bridges - readings should not vary more than 0.05 ohms as I understand. Should I be concerned that using the plug attachment for the megger on the front of the socket the readings...

    Insulation Resistance Sensitive Equipment?

OK - Do I assume that standard practice is to leave them out or connect them up? My thinking was if they are not sensitive and connected up, then I would not only confirm IR for the circuit but also the equipment if reading >299Mohms.

    Two way switch continmuity check

Yes I am - I test at the light for L - Earth, then at the light for S/L - Earth which also checks switching is on line, ..., but I was testing everything I could so did the test at the switches also ... it was only because I got these readings that it got me thinking ... so is it right?

    Two way switch continmuity check

Have connected earth to line by CU to underatke some continuity testing and for testing line switching. I am pretty much taking resistance readings whenever I go along the circuits to see if everything makes sense ... I have arrived at a two way switch, and just wanted to check something - I...

    Bathroom Zone Check

I have a shower enclosure which is more than 0.6m away from a wall. By the wall I have a toilet. On the wall and above the toilet is an extractor fan, located about 2.1m high. Am I correct in thinking that a standard extractor fan can be installed as it is not in any zone?

    Earth fly @ socket walkthrough?

Yes TTC I do consider dropping the face plate a potentially hazardous issue if you have not isolated first, but my point is, once the electrician has left the premises, there is nothing stopping someone else dropping the faceplate without checking with you, once you're long and gone? e.g...

    Earth fly @ socket walkthrough?

An earth fly is no longer necessary for a standard socket. My understanding is that the screw connected the earth to the metal backplate. But doesn't that sound a bit Heath Robinson. How many times do people drop the front plate without isolating? To do kitchen tiling for example. Imagine...

    extending 6mm cable

trying to extend 6mm cable - don;t have crimp, so hoping to either use a 60a terminal strip or a cooker outlet (without using the load bit). uestion is, if I get a 45a cooker outlet plate will I be able to use the terminals inside to take 2 x 6mm cable (in order to extend the circuit) or won't...
