    Water Softener Woes

Hi, A few months back I moved into a house with a water softener. The system seems to be a Autrol 255 440i. Since moving in I have been topping the system up on a weekly basis with salt, and all seems to have been fine. Yesterday how the system was overflowing water and the level within the...

    CCTV Recommendations

Hi, well I am looking for a new DVR (maybe the 8ch-ds-7208hqhi-sh or the DS-7208HUHI-F1/N) with 4 HD cameras for outside use with decent night vision range and decent day time capture too. Looking for a good value set up that won't bust the bank. Thanks.

Two more questions if I may... 1) do these cameras look any good for keeping an eye on the outside of a property (drive way etc): http://www.cctv-global.co.uk/ds-2ce16d1t-it3 2) would the 8ch-ds-7208hqhi-sh support a PZT, which my current system has? Thanks

Does it matter if my current cabl Thanks.. Do you mean something like this: http://www.cctv-global.co.uk/dvr-8ch-ds-7208hqhi-sh My current system uses BNC cables, and if the above is compatible with older non HD cameras, it would allow me to replace the defunct DVR (and its 4 channel twin)...

Tool question – Cutting paving slabs in situ

Richard, the slabs are 2ft square so not small. I don't relish the idea of cutting them with the grinder as it does seem a little risky, but i will give it a go on some loose slabs first and see how it goes and it i am confident enough to go for it.

Tool question – Cutting paving slabs in situ

Hi all, My has house concrete slab paving that runs right up to the wall of the house. Sadly however, the paving no longer falls away from the house and water pools against the bricks in places (and in some parts of the house the walls seem damp). As a temporary fix to get me through the...

1850s stud wall - what will I find?

Thanks. I think the state of them will depend on how will the spikes holding the door frame on come out :-) Looking at the ceiling I think the top of the frame goes through the lathes and plaster in the roof, but a trip up into the loft in a week's time should confirm for good.

1850s stud wall - what will I find?

Thanks for the advice. Re the door frame, there is not a floor above this, only the roof structure. So I will struggle see what is above the left hand side of the door frame due to the pitch and the fact that it cannot be seen from inside the loft J. I may however be able to see how the...

It used to be a B&B. Please see my other comment :-)

1850s stud wall - what will I find?

I can see why you may think that. But the house only has two floors, but does have two stair cases leading from the ground floor to the second floor. The secondary staircase is a spiral job, that leads to a downstairs exit. Before I bought the place it was a B&B and they seem to have installed...

1850s stud wall - what will I find?

Hi, I have a house that dates from the 1850s and I have started to remove a stud wall from the hallway to give the area more light and space. Part of the stud wall that I have removed was recent timber and plasterboard. The rest seems to be lathes and plaster and may be the original dating from...

    Boiler Cycling

Well with the CH and Water set to off, the boiler is still sitting at 21 deg C (ambient temp) when the ECO light is set to on. So I think it may be ok! Hopefully I can get through most of the summer with the CH and water off and all hot water provided by the Solar Thermal!
