    Underfloor heating

My builder installed underfloor heating several months ago but did not connect to electric supply. It looks pretty simple so I decided to do it myself. Prior to connecting, I tested the heating mat which gave me a reading of approx. 30 ohms. (approx. 20 square meters). I have a fused...

    Render Plinth

I have a building company doing a number of jobs in my house. Having repointed all the brickwork outside, I wanted a rendered plinth up to DPC level as the bricks below this level looked pretty tatty. I told the builder he would need to dig up the driveway as it had built up in layers over the...

    freesat

I have a similar question. Currently I have a sky+ box and a sky HD box both running off a single dish supplied by sky about 4 years ago. I would now like to put a freesat twin tuner recorder in my kitchen. Can I run two extra cables from my dish or do I need an extra dish? Cheers

    Radiator too close to wall

I've recently had a bedroom completely dry-lined as the old lath and plaster was in a bad way. This involved fixing new plasterboard over the top and screwed to the studs. Now that I want to re-hang the radiator, I have realised the valves are too close to the wall as it is now some 12-15mm...

    Wet wires

Most of my house has been professionally rewired in the past 18 months, the only exception being lighting in two ground floor rooms. Some of the old wire has been disconnected but left in place (for example where a light switch is no longer required). Not a problem in itself, but the exposed...

How to get cables behind skirting?

What I dont get is how to drill straight down, surely with the drill as close to the wall as possible, at best I will be drilling at an angle into the wall. This would be OK (as mentioned) if passing the cable from the adjacent room, but not when it is an outside wall.

How to get cables behind skirting?

Can anyone advise me how to get cables from under the floor boards to go behind the skirting board to a wall socket just above the skirting board? My electrician seemed to have no problem doing this with mains cable, but I now want to do the same with CAT5 cables. Many thanks
