    Installing a new kitchen!!

Sorry for the slight hijack of this thread, thanks for post Mick, your kitchen looks really good! £1000 for all that is a good price. Also I love what you've done with the lighting and the floor tiles are very smart. Did you do the lights with overhead access? I've looked at some kitchens...

    plaster or fill?

Its hard to say without seeing it, but if you just have some marks on the walls you could fill and sand and get a pretty good finish. When I did my hall the walls had quite a few marks and i filled and did a lot of sanding. The results were ok and much better than if I hadn't bothered but...

    Bathroom Extractor fan fitting question

Thats great and lets me know if I'm getting a silly quote or not. Never heard of a whole house ventilation system though, think that might be too expensive for me.

Thanks for the replies didn't know I was breaking the rules though asking for an idea on price sorry :( Rules are rules but it seems like an odd one, but I know now. Anyway I went to B&Q today and there range seemed to be very limited so will look around for the right one, I now know I want...

Condensation on new double glazed windows

We recently got new double glazed windows and now there always seems to be a small amount of condensation on the bottom of each window. We also put aluminium Venetian blinds up when the new windows were installed if that makes any difference. Its not the biggest problem but I wondered if...

How hard to learn to plaster?

Sadly my local college don't do plastering as I looked into it. I've also looked at the different dvds and the looked over the goldtrowel ones. After your recommendation I think I'll buy them and see how I go. Would love the pdfs if you don't mind, my address is [email protected]. Thanks.

Flush mounting a light switch into a false wall?

Looks ok I guess, at least I think so :? Not as good as if I got a professional in obviously, but fairly tidy and didn't cost anything.

Flush mounting a light switch into a false wall?

Just to update this thread. I managed it in the end although it took a while but I'm getting better at diy as I go and enjoying it too! Before and After. http://img504.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bedroomhallwaylight1uj.jpg

Advising on flush mounting light switch.

I cant really describe exactly how I did this but I managed. Its not 100% perfect but not too bad. I had to fill the gap around the existing hole as it was huge then paint it. http://img10.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf17934xb.jpg Needs a wipe clean but you get the idea I think it looks...

Can I fit recessed spotlights with no overhead access?

I'm considering covering the old beams now if I have too and not replacing them as long as it doesn't effect the value of the place? Personally I think fitting a new ceiling would be too much for me to do. Any idea of cost for this? Also how many lights would I need? Just to confirm...

Can I fit recessed spotlights with no overhead access?

I'm not so bothered about the amount of light produced, I just think the recessed lights like really good! I'm not sure how many I would have yet? Problem is my girlfriend likes those beams and I'm not sure if she would be too pleased if I said I was going to cover them.

Can I fit recessed spotlights with no overhead access?

I think it will look good with recessed lights too but they seem to be a lot of work compared to normal fittings! What exactly do you mean stuartturbo? You would add another sheet of plasterboard nailed to those wooden beams that are currently there putting all the wiring in place before...

Can I fit recessed spotlights with no overhead access?

My bedroom is a loft conversion so there is no way I can get overhead access, well not easily anyway! But is it still possible to install recessed spotlights? If so which ones, and how do I do it? At the moment there are two lamps. I haven't started redecorating but it currently looks like this...
