What caused an accident. Broken half-shaft?

Well many of them seem to actually speed up towards the obvious hazard ahead.

I think the plumber has broke my wall...

Even if not then, you'd think the moment you see cavity wall beads start to pour out you'd know you've f***ed up! Absolutely shocking o_O

    Fully enclosing a walk-in shower??

From what I've seen, it's fairly common in the US to have a fully enclosed shower cubicle like that. If, like you say, the extraction is decent then it makes a lot of sense to contain most of the steam/water vapour into one area fully prepared to handle it rather than the entire bathroom.

    Gearbox Leak Advice

Yep, but considering he mentions having the clutch, DMF and clutch guide tube replaced, I was assuming it's not an auto.

Does anyone know what part this is?

Looks like a turbo oil feed/return as it has a banjo for the high pressure side.

    What has happened here,,,???

Unfortunately now that you've had it apart and taken the bits off, it's unlikely that they'll want to know; they'll probably try to shrug it off as something you or someone else has done in the time since and trying to blame them. Interested to know how this goes for you.

    Gearbox Leak Advice

Gearbox oil isnt typically red, it's sort of honey coloured, like engine oil. Power steering fluid on the other hand is red... Is this the old 2.0 8v Hdi? I have one of those in the household, coming up to 200k, runs like new. Great engines.

    repairing plaster skim for tiling?

I don't know yet. I'll pull off some more tiles at the weekend and get a better look. Might just call up the plasterer and ask him...

    repairing plaster skim for tiling?

Thanks for the response. This wall is at one end of the bath - the other 2 are new stud walls and I have used STS shower boards (wedi type stuff) as their covering. Since this plastered wall is at the opposite end to the shower and it's a second bathroom that likely wont see much use anyway...

    repairing plaster skim for tiling?

Hi all, I recently put up a some tiles on a wall at the end of my bath. It's a newly plastered wall done by a plasterer and I used acrylic primer before tiling with cement based adhesive. For various reasons <sigh> I have to take them off and redo it. I've knocked one of the tiles off and...

Hive install on Ideal Vogue GEN 2

There is, it's wired internally if you have the clip-in Ideal receiver. If you follow the loom back from the connector that the receiver plugs into, you'll see. I did the same and got rid of the Ideal Touch. You'd better off doing the same as me and going for Nest, which controls the vogue by...

    Tile cutter advice

    Grohe smartcontrol / grotherm

Anyone got either of these things installed? For the 2 knob, 2 outlet type, could you let me know how much of a ‘dead zone’ there is in the middle where neither the bath nor the shower are running? Reason being, I used a Hansgrohe version of this in a hotel once and there was only a tiny...

    Boiler filter and softened water?

If you're bothered you can just set the softener to bypass when you fill/top up the CH system. That's what I do with mine even though it's unnecessary.

    Ideal Halo App

Halo is the replacement for their 'Touch Connect' system that I got installed with my Vogue boiler. Thing was total crap. Functioned OK as a basic thermostat/timer but the connected/online part was utterly hopeless. Rather than update the app/ server infrastructure and make it work properly...

    Wall mounted bath filler valves

I've been looking at a few options for these built in valves that go in the wall from Grohe, Hansgrohe and Ideal Standard The Grohe 'smartbox/smartcontrol' ones look nice, but £300+ for a valve block made entirely from plastic? Hmmmmm. Hansgrohe 'ibox/ecostat' ones are very similar and metal...

    Under Sink Pipework

Yes, you can just undo the joint before the U bend and push the U bend up, it's a sliding joint and you don't need to cut anything. In all honesty it probably started further up when it was installed as: 1 - you can see a witness mark from where it was originally 2 - there's an inverse fall on...

Aerated block to close up some holes in exterior wall

I'm currently in the process of redoing a bathroom and having changed the size/layout of the room, I've removed the old soil, basin and shower wastes going through the wall and now need to close them up. The largest one once I knocked away the old mortar around the edge is about 200mm...
