Potterton Puma 80e Water Hot & Cold

Dear All I posted a similar post while back but am looking for some fresh advice. I have the boiler model mentioned in the subject feeding a mixer tape shower (no thermostatic control). If I have a shower in the evening the shower is perfect; lovely constant flow & temperature with the...

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

Just as way of an update; I decided to run with it, put it all back together & just use it. Surprise, surprise with washing placed in the machine, it filled both with cold & hot, so happy day all is well again. Thanks for all the help. Regards

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

With the cold feed turned off the soap is not taken down because only the cold solenoid is being engaged & as such no water flows. I agree with you but I am concerned that there is another fault which may rear its head.

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

That's exactly what I thought, right at the beginning yet the voltage does not imply the washer is requesting hot. Could there be another fault here?

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

I've tried the washing machine on all different settings; 40, 90 etc etc & non seem to call for hot. I have a combi boiler so there is no hot water tank to pull from, it is heated as demanded. I just metered the cold vs the hot on a 90 wash & sure enough the cold jumps to 200+ volts when the...

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

I just plugged the blue cold feed cable into the hot valve & sure enough the valve engages & the washing machine fills with hot water. This can either mean that the washing machine simply is not calling hot water for all the cycles I have tried or there is another fault meaning hot water is...

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

Pipes are definitely the correct way around & the water running into the tray is hot. My combi is not firing up at all. I have just connected the old valve & just left it on the top of the water machine to see if it opens when a program is started & it doesn't either. Am confused now as all...

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

It was definietly the hot valve that was gone; after closer inspection & leaving it connected to the rig for a few minutes it started to give/leak. I ordered a new one but it came through with a different connection block. I managed to remove the one from the broken one & it is now fitted...

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

Funny you should mention the grit/sand; I have just taken the lid off & can see there is a separate hot & cold value & that they are different designs. I whipped them both out & the hot one seemed to be giving, as it was bubbling when I was blowing into the inlet. I then rigged up a quick...

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

Great thanks for the advice. I'll get testing to work out if it is hot or cold & order off eBay; they are only just over a tenner. Is this a common fault/part to go on this or other models?

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

Thanks for the reply. These seem quite cheap, are they easy to fit? It looks like it is just inside the housing where the water inlets attach so I assume access it via the top?

Indesit WIDL126 filling with water even when swicthed off

Hi There I have an Indesit WIDL126 that is about 7 years old. I came home today to find that it had filled with water & as the door was ajar there was a mess on the floor. I swiftly closed the door & ran a drain cycle that cleared it. I then noticed that with the soap depenser out water is...

    Single VS Double Radiator

Just realised that you can actually get the following: Single Panel Convector Double Panel Single Convector Double Panel Double Convector It was the Double Panel Double Convector I fitted in the past & they are quite deep; maybe a Double Panel Single Convector will fit with the...

    Single VS Double Radiator

Thanks for the reply. If I was to try & fit a newer double that is deeper whats the best way to go about adjusting the pipe work?

    Single VS Double Radiator

This maybe a silly question but is a modern single radiator likely to be nearly as hot (BTU) as an old, dated double? I ask as I need to replace a dated double but the existing pipe centres will fit easily onto a new single & not a double due to the increased depth. I recently fitted a new...

Potterton Puma 80e - DHW Hot & Cold

The flow rate is slow at first & then gets better as the water heats. I thought this was a feature of this boiler?

Potterton Puma 80e - DHW Hot & Cold

Thanks for the relies gents. As you say needs a "proper" gas engineer; I am in the South East London/North Kent area, can you suggest anyone at all? Thanks

Potterton Puma 80e - DHW Hot & Cold

Dear All I already had my own suspicions & ideas; & as usual the posts on this forum are very helpful but I just thought I would post a new question to get some current opinions. I moved into my new home approximately 6 months ago & the Puma 80e has been no problem so far. Having come back...

    Towel Radiators BTU

Thanks for the reply. I completely understand that towel radiators are less effective than regular rads. So basically it is difficult to compare not knowing what standard they are using; I presume this is the case for the wattage figures too?
