    Moving Dropwire

Bernard is right, the gauge of the wire will make no difference. We pull the extermal cable as close to the hatch as possible to keep joints accessible when the loft is full of stuff in 20 years time. Never noticed increased lightning damage from this practice.

Can I remove incoming phone box while decorating?

yeah they are the old Bakelite fused boxes, but when the wire is renewed for modern type, the fuses are cut out and the box just becomes an enclosure so you should be able to remove it completely and leave the phone wires still connected. nicely ask any Bt / openreach guy you if he'll give...

    Not often you see this

Indeed. It's abhorrent. I do note that one of the comments from a black man is condemning the thugs that did this, saying they should be tracked down. Possible reasons we dont see this in the news so much could be because it either doesn't happen as often, or because the council and police...

    Immigration street

They were also concerned about selective editing on benefits street as well, but the crew were not chased off by violence. Should be interesting watching.

Dial tone but can't ring out.

Yep, if you're going to replace the extension cable, you may as well sink the new one into the wall if you can. It's a nice neat job. Cables dont last long under carpets as you have found out, and of course they are ugly on skirting boards.

    Immigration street

New channel 4 show spin off from benefits street, showing the lives of immigrants in a street where only 17% describe themselves as white british. It was meant to be 6 episodes but was cut short to a single episode after the local population were violent towards the film crew...

    Non- payment to a subbie

I understand what you say about titles, the bit I'm contesting is what that gives you the right to do. I think your understanding seems to be a little optimistic to the side of the builder / supplier which is understandable, as you have an income to protect. but there's no point pretending you...

    Non- payment to a subbie

then the windows shouldn't have left their premises until paid for in full. but then they might get a bit dusty sitting there, since they'll wait till a tradesman has got the capital to buy them and offer them to a customer. you ARE allowed to sell things that don't belong to you in specific...

    Non- payment to a subbie

guys get into cash flow problems all the time yet you don't hear of builders merchants going round customers sites to tear materials back out of the fabric of the building, even with this amazing clause.

    Non- payment to a subbie

stolen goods are a different thing entirely, and the police will take them is simply because they are stolen goods, nothing to do with titles. her windows were not stolen goods, in fact she had paid for them in full to someone who DID have the right to sell them to her, but had failed to...

Ban on pork in Islington’s primary schools

It has EFFECTIVELY banned pork, by removing it from the catering contract and requiring special request to be made for it. Result is the same, it's not available to children who would normally have eaten it. Stick that in your pipe JohnD :)

Muslim / Gypsy burial conflict - The facts

While it appears to have been sensationalised with regard to the exhumation part, it doesn't mean it's all about nothing, like you're all trying to make out. At the end of the day, muslims said we don't want him buried next to our relative because he's a gypsy. Yes, the muslims do not seem...

Ban on pork in Islington’s primary schools

It's not provided because school staff would have to monitor the children to ensure muslim and jewish children don't eat it. They are citing extra cost. Everyone knows if a muslim or jewish child was to eat a piece of pork they would turn to a pile of dust instantly. Or they might just eat...

Muslim / Gypsy burial conflict - The facts

Who said they were excited about false allegations? You have drawn your own (unjustified) conclusion from someone's postings, and then posed a question that now assumes that conclusion is an established fact.

    Bike Crash

I'm an advanced motorcyclist, and I think the biker could've easily avoided that collision. Obviously he was going too fast overall, but watching the footage, you can clearly see the junction ahead, and the black car approaching it - i would have anticipated the black car may turn in front...

Muslim / Gypsy burial conflict - The facts

so if DAVE books a restaurant and state at the time he doesnt want to sit next to Muslims or Chinese people, and then a Muslim family comes in and He complains loudly within earshot of all the diners....would your first thought be, "that man is simply asking for his agreement with the restaurant...
