It was only a matter of time

You. Although you argue your points vehemently, I don't believe for a second that you'd abuse your authority. :)
Flattered I'm sure.

However, I'd rather remove my own eyes with a spoon than moderate this site. GD section has become a Muslim bashing pantomime.

Maybe, as nosey said, some threads are repetitive.

But, they're always very popular threads, nosey often can't tear himself away from them. These threads often run to 10, 15 or more pages.

There's some serious stuff going on out there at the moment. We try to raise the subject, but often get shot down. Some critics abroad just get shot.

These threads aren't compulsory. For those of a delicate disposition or low boredom threshold - please look away, start another thread or have an early night.

Best thing about these threads - they raise the issues that need raising and annoy those who need annoying. Especially RNR.

We're a clique in our own little world. We'd miss each other if this forum was folded :)

It's frightening how long we've been labouring the same old divisions of opinion and arguing styles.

At least you have the freedom to do it. Well nearly.

Ludicrous and repetitive they may be. However, the amouht of time and effort taken by him is indicative of something a little more OCD and awry taking place. :?

Seriously, I hope you are wrong although I agree that there may really be something of concern going on. For that reason, I for one am not going to continue to goad him.

Something I did quite some time ago has never left my thoughts. A gentleman with the username Ellai tended to argue that black was white, which is fine on this forum in my opinion. However, some of us continued to press him on a statement he had made and which he continued to avoid answering.

He said that he was having some sort of family problems (I think) and some of us assumed this was just a ploy to avoid our questions. He then disappeared. However, in retrospect I realise that he may have been telling the truth and, to be honest, I now feel very guilty about 'getting at him'.

So, you see, I do have a conscience.

If you are reading this Ellai, I'm sorry.

I'm sure a bit of silly banter on a forum will be the last thing on his mind mate

Thanks, Cajar. I'm all for a bit of friendly, humorous, or even sarcastic banter, but the poor guy had someone close to him in a coma. I began to realise how I might feel in that position if someone was goading me. No wonder he left.

I'm not looking for absolution; I'd just be happy if Ellal could read my apology in the hope that it might make him feel a bit better.

(As an aside, it's obviously not necessary to be religious in order to have a conscience.)

I think GD is like a public house, you are free to come in and say what you like but be prepared to take the flak.

I post for my own amusement, and obviously pee a few people off, but it's just anonymous users doing it for their own entertainment.
I'd be very surprised of anyone thinks too much about this forum once they log off, to any life changing extent!

Not your fault in any degree if your discussion coincided with a bad period in someone's life.

Agree on conscience. I'm sure there's a pun on con and science there!
