Advice on how to reduce costs without the expense of having boiler replaced!

Thanks to all so far for replying. I think you could be right guys. I need to double check the instruction manual for the Netaheat online but it does look like the HPA2 could be on the CH. I didn't replace the backplate as it was compatible. I just changed the interface over. I need to...

Advice on how to reduce costs without the expense of having boiler replaced!

Hi Our combined gas and electric bills are exhorbitant to say we don't particularly heat all the rooms in the house. We generally pay upwards of £3000 per year. Now I know at some point it will make sense to change the boiler but I am not in the position financially to do that at the moment...

    Workshop Insulation. VCL and choices

Hi I will framing out an old precast concrete garage this weekend and am looking to do the best possible job for the minimum cost. I am thinking of 38x89 CLS as the main studs with 100 think Knauf Omnifit Slab mineral wool insulation. However, I am going to eventually be installing a...

    Central Heating Temperatures and Diagnosis

OK Dan Robinson. I suppose it simply gives more controllability. I was thinking that you would only need one per room as it would cut off the radiator or flow of water to the radiator it's connected to. But of course you would need one per radiator as otherwise they would keep pumping out...

    Central Heating Temperatures and Diagnosis

Wow! Some really good advice here from a few posters. I am looking at the system overall and trying to ascertain in which order the rads are heating up. Quite interesting because it is not in the order I thought and I am still unsure to be exact order. The IR thermometer proved useful for...

    Central Heating Temperatures and Diagnosis

OK. Jeff the Gasman. Thanks for that. It does say in the instructions not to use it in shiny/polished surfaces but the copper coming out of the back of thboiler is very dull. What would you expect water temperature to be coming out of the boiler? Surely 70-80 Celsius is nearer the mark?

    Central Heating Temperatures and Diagnosis

Wish I have asked that the other day as you cannot return to Toolstation if opened. £30 down the drain. What do you recommend for measuring pipe temperatures?

    Central Heating Temperatures and Diagnosis

Hi I need to replace a couple of radiators. I have a separate thread for that. I read that to balance radiators, as a novice, you measure flow and return temps on the rads so I bought myself a digital infrared thermometer. A point and shoot thingymabob! Just been playing around with it. You...

    Radiator Replacement

I like to try and read up on things fully before tackling them. The output is higher than the original radiators. Having given some more though to it since writing the post, I am wondering if I can actually get away with installing only the two longer ones? I estimate a decrease in output...

    Radiator Replacement

Hi I am looking to replace 3 double radiators in my house. They are old style double panel with no fins. The system dates, I would guess, to the 1960's. I have 2 no. 39.75" x 18" and 1 no. 32" x 18". At least one of the larger ones has corroded. I am struggling to calculate the replacement...

    Fridge Repair - Capillary Tube

Hi Just bought a 2nd hand fridge to replace some components in an old fridge I do not want to ditch. It turns out that the motherboard in it is not the same as the 'sister' fridge! So I need to the 'new' fridge working. The guy I bought it from said that it just needed regassing. I cannot...

Ryobi RLT26CDS - Not starting - Air bubbles in return

Thanks for all your advice John. I've been out and got a pacman screwdriver but still not joy. I've lost the will to live to be honest. 10 hours wasted! I've just blasted Ryobi on Twitter. They really are a piece of sh*t as a brand. Apologies if this offends ir breaks forum rules but I...

Ryobi RLT26CDS - Not starting - Air bubbles in return

Think I messed around with the needle valve too much. I don't have a pacman socket just checked. I've never messed with them and it was fine before so I am guessing I shouldn't have touched the needle valve. I looked at it again and tried bending lever all the way out and as close to...

Ryobi RLT26CDS - Not starting - Air bubbles in return

Got proper fuel in it now and new plug. It fired but runs for 5 odd seconds then cuts out so engine not seized. Also dies on full throttle. Need to try and keep it running and gradually increase to full throttle see if I can keep it running. Was frustrated before. It's even more...

Ryobi RLT26CDS - Not starting - Air bubbles in return

Spark plug indeed. Gave it a brush off and it started so going to get a new one and some 2 stroke oil with fuel additive in. Problem is I got that frustrated last night that I ended up putting fresh fuel in without adding oil. There was probably a quarter tank left with proper mix in...

Ryobi RLT26CDS - Not starting - Air bubbles in return

Spring is in place. Will try plug before carb. I haven't removed any gaskets other than one below primer and one under 4 screw cover. Interesting you say Ruixing is copy of Zama as this is an original fitment carb!!! Ryobi!!!

Ryobi RLT26CDS - Not starting - Air bubbles in return

Cheers John. Can't see any oval plugs. Which face are they on? Yes it is Ruixing. New carb is £25 so might try that. Could do without buying a carb unnecessarily. Money's tight at mo.
