    rail/track saw options

I was looking at an entry level track saw or rail saw (not sure what is the best name) and I was eyeing the Evolution R185CCSX+ as it seems to be a interesting DIY option. The saw cost £90, the 2800mm tracks cost £77, but when I started checking the reviews of the track, it seems to be crap...

    16mm2 conductor terminals

They look chunky from what I've seen, so not something I could fit on a 100x100mm box I guess, but I'm happy to be proven wrong. I've checked a few options, all of them are quite large for what I need that is nust to connect 3x 16mm conductors to other 3x 16mm conductors

    16mm2 conductor terminals

I don't like these plastic terminals with screws, I've seen them getting loose with time, sparks coming out and burning. I had this in my house, then I replaced everything with wabo boxes and wago 221 connectors, now I can rope skipping with the wiring with zero maintenance.

    16mm2 conductor terminals

I find them a big larger then I would like to put inside a junction box on the wall The henley blocks are quite chunky as well, so I'm leaning to crimps or din Yep, I'm leaning towards crimps and the crimper, pretty cost effective and compact. I'll add some heavy duty heat shrink sleeving...

    16mm2 conductor terminals

Hi guys, I'm trying to find a good quality terminal to connect 16mm2 conductors. The ones I have found are those white plastic terminal blocks that just by looking at it may spark and catch fire. I'm used to wago connectors which are a wonder but I can't find anything above 6mm2. What do you...

Sound proofing external facing stud wall behind a garage door

One of the internal walls will be staggered to avoid sound transmission between the two as it will be an easy win, around the perimeter of the garage becomes difficult due to the space it takes. I decided to buy rockwoll RWA45 which is 45kg per m3 to use in the stud walls that need sound...

Sound proofing external facing stud wall behind a garage door

I'm using PIR for thermal insulation, not for sound. The idea is to create a good thermal and acoustic barrier mixing materials. That is why I was thinking about a thick tong and groove OSB board on the outer side of this stud wall (it will face the metal garage door, about 10cm gap between) or...

Sound proofing external facing stud wall behind a garage door

Hey guys, I'm building a stud wall behind my garage door (metal door) to use as a recording space and I'm wondering about the best materials to use to create a good sound barrier with good thermal performance too. I was thinking about using 4x2 to make the frame and on the side facing the garage...

To self-level or not garage concrete floor with "grooves/waves" to convert to home office

Floating floor you mean floating chipboards? Moisture from bellow and above the insulation, I heard any moisture can ruin the PIR boards, but also I was trying to be pro active with any water cup being dropped on the floor, but maybe that is me being paranoid

To self-level or not garage concrete floor with "grooves/waves" to convert to home office

Hello, I'm trying to figure out if self-levelling for my garage floor is needed for my home office conversion. There are grooves all the way which some are up to 5mm deep. I'm planning to insulate the concrete floor on top with PIR boards of around 100mm and I was wondering if these grooves...

Insulating garage's concrete floor for electric underfloor heating

I did some calculations, with well insulated space, for 5m2 it seems I would need bare minimum 400W heater, as I'm planning to divide the space into 2 offices, the final area will be 4.8m2

Insulating garage's concrete floor for electric underfloor heating

I'm planning to do 90mm all around and floors. Ceiling I may go double 90 layers as I had to add 45x95 joists underneath the existing truss to support it, so I may end up filling it with insulation too.

Insulating garage's concrete floor for electric underfloor heating

Hello! I have a 12m2 garage with a concrete floor that I would like to insulate and use electrical underfloor heating as it will become a home office. I'm doing it all myself but I’m not sure what is the best procedure and/or order of putting it all together. My first idea was first to repair...

    LED lights, fittings and insulation

I want to install LED lights on plasterboard that is directly on top of PIR boards on a 5.1x2.2 metres garage that I'm converting to a home office. I was reading that I should have clearance between the lights and the PIR board to allow air circulation, so I was looking for slim profile LED...

trussed roof loft conversion with telebeam or ecotrus

My house is too long, 9.5m so they can't provide long enough beams to cope with the load. I'm going to back to traditional steel beams in the end to support the joists
