    Sub £100 drill/driver 18v? inc batteries

Hi I've been using a dodgy B&D quattro 12v drill/sander/jigsaw for a reno since we bought a house a year ago. It's rubbish at all the jobs it does but I only use it for the drill. I can just about put drywall screws into p/b and the frame by about 10mm then it struggles. :( I'm looking...

Mixer bars with those dog legs/variable fittings - hassle?

Thanks that Bristan kit with the wall plate looks good, might try it on a solid wall as the bar mixer is heavy. Didn't fancy risking plastic or compression in a wall behind tiles. Thanks

Filling chases to support a heavy load - plaster or cement?

Hi I've chased out the wall for a shower and have gone a bit wide therefore at present it seems the holes for the fixing brackets to the bar mixer will be driven into whatever I decide to fill the chases with. The mixer is quite heavy so I'm wondering what to fill the chases with that will...

Mixer bars with those dog legs/variable fittings - hassle?

Hi I did plan in running a copper length with elbows buried in the wall and fixing them directly onto a mixer bar but my shower turned up and it needed to be joined by 1/2" bsp female elbows with those variable fittings which confuse me. I went for Speedfit stuff and as mocked up below...

Fitting taps to a bath with a small rim - bath or wall?

Hi I bought an L shape bath from the internet and pretty much thought that getting taps on would be a breeze. It's turned up today and the lip of the bath measures about 8cm all the way around. The base of the taps are about 6cm square, I also need to get 9mm tiles and adhesive around...

Soldering and gluing pipes under floorboard - advisable?

Hi I'm moving some pipe in the bathroom from a rad and running it to a towel rail. The boards will go back down, then I'll 8mm ply it and then we've got some thick tiles going down. Last thing I need is a leak so I'm thinking of soldering my elbows and then sealing the joints with some...

Tile spacer size and type of cutter? 300mmx500mm

Hi I'm about to start a bathroom tile and I'm using the same riven tiles for the walls and floor. Will a 2mm spacer for the walls be ok? And any idea size for the floors? Considering the size of 300mmx500mm I would like the spaces to look nice and not stupid big, nor invisible. Also...

How to 15mm connect stainless steel 15mm to copper?

Thanks for the replies. As I currently have access to the bottom and top of the stack where to soil and water run upstairs, should I get rid of this last run of steel? It currently runs from under kitchen sink - up a boxed in stack - into the bathroom and is joined to the copper. It would...

How to 15mm connect stainless steel 15mm to copper?

http://www.screwfix.com/p/conex-straight-coupling-301-15mm-dzr/65791 Suppose these will do, they're exactly the same as the age old fittings already on there! Hopefully no leaks!

How to 15mm connect stainless steel 15mm to copper?

We had a load in the house of both 22mm and 15mm and it's all done up with compression fittings, plumber said it can't be soldered the normal way so it's all bolted up. Something about a shortage of copper so steel had to be used! House it 70s but the system was probably 30ish + years old.

How to 15mm connect stainless steel 15mm to copper?

Hi We've just weeded out a lot of the stainless which was in the house but I've still got a T which needs to be moved and turned into a regular straight - stainless to copper. I've been told that stainless steel is awkward and to be careful with what I'll be using to connect the old...

Burying pipe in the wall for shower - copper or plastic?

I meant currently the supplies, hot and cold are both copper with flexis but the new bath will have taps at the other end so I was going to cut the pipe and use an elbow to go from copper to plastic which would be run under the length of the bath. Thanks
