    speedfit inserts

    someone mentioned that when the plastic pipes get hot they are prone to burst the joint off so its advisable to fit inserts into the pipes to strengthen them. Does this mean the cold water system doesn't need inserts?

    Hi wonder if someone can advise me on 2 questions please. 8.5kw shower to 45 amp double pole pull cord switch, and a cable run of max 4 metres to consumer unit. What is the minimum cable size and minimum mini circuit breaker size I can safely get away with.

    Wylex consumer Unit

    How do I tell if its an old board? The only form of ID I can find is Cat No NSSTM5404-899 The MCBs are all marked NSB Type 2 If 40 amp is the max this board will take would that be enough for a 8.5kw shower? And where could I get one?

    So I can simply push a peice of copper pipe into the end of a speedfit connecter it it will be as good a joint as shoving the plastic pipe in?
