Wylex consumer unit screws

Pozi but you can get screwdrivers which fit the terminals perfectly, CK do them IIRC.

The older style were pozi, and the new ones are philips.
Their RCBOs are still pozi.

If youmean attaching mcb to busbar and connection points most CU's seem to have a head that is 50% slotted and 50% phillips. CK do a special screwdriver for this called modulo.......buy it if you are in the mood to treat yourself although I've never had a problem with a PH2

Yes those are the screws I meen. Cant afford the special tool so its a phillips no 2 then. Thanks

I hate modulo, I've got a couple of the CK modulo screwdrivers.

Whats the point, is it to cater for people who have either a slotted or pozi/philips driver, but not both?

If thats the case then you have NO BUSINESS poking around inside a CU!

For special terminal screws with slotted/recessed heads. These screws are widely used in electrical equipment such as terminals, plugs, sockets etc.

Eliminate the problem of quick wear of the screw heads due to better screw fit than any normal slotted or recessed head screwdriver.

On a related topic, does anybody else find it impossible to get anywhere close when guessing the size of a Torx head?

Show me a hex/Allen cap, or a 6-sided bolt, or a Pozi and I can make a good fist of picking the size, often right first time.

But there's something about Torx that has me trying several sizes before I get it right....

I agree. I hate Torx. Even more I hate a mixed screw set up.
eg
Yesterday I fitted a Neff oven.
To access the power terminal I needed a Torx
To attach the Live & Neutral conductors I needed Philips
To attache the earth conductor i needed a flat head screwdriver.

Good grief! :x

If you're picky and use the right tool for the job it takes three screwdrivers to replace a plug top :D

What annoys me is phillips vs pozi, it takes fairly carefull inspection to tell the difference, worse if you pick the wrong one it will sort of work but has a tendancy to mess up the screw head if high torq is used.
