My boiler timed out twice in a week a few weeks back. Turning it off and back on again makes it spring back to life. I thought twice in a week was odd but kept an eye on it and no problems since.
Yesterday I noticed a leak on the hot water cylinder. I have this contained until such time as it...
I am trying to fix a couple of split pin rivets to a helmet I am renovating. The pins are very small and tough do it is hard to bend them through a hole in the helmet, see photos. Does anyone have any advice about how to get the rivets to fold flat? I was wondering if something like a G clamp...
I have half a tin of white hammerite metal paint. It has completely dried up, you can poke a stick into it and it is soft and rubbery texture. Is there any way to bring this tin back to life? If so what should I try adding?
Right don’t want to take any risks here, below is a photo of the back of the light, Live is going into COM, cannot see where it says L1 or L2.
Would it be a case of moving the brown live wire from COM to the spare L, see photo
Thanks I have never tried that but the instructions are quite clear that its off and on twice in 2 seconds. Yes, I would like it to be a manual light only.
I have an outside light, a Timeguard NSLB500C 500w PIR Halogen Floodlight. This is a security light with an adjustable timer for how long you want it to stay on. It has a manual override option to keep the light on constantly which involves switching the light on, then off and on twice in 2...
After flushing my toilet the water level goes higher than normal for a few seconds as if blocked but then returns to normal. It is not doing it all the time but intermittently, and it’s not even a case of it doing it when paper is in there. I have tried a plunger and there is no obvious...
Thanks I did wonder about that not sure I’d find one big enough though, Ithought the fact the legs fold in might help protect against any warping and a blanket loosely covering might give warmth and not get too damp?
I have purchased a folding pool table which I presume is made out of msg laminate, see link below:

Due to its size I was hoping to store folded up in garage when not in use, as garage is external and can get...
I will be painting some walls which are covered in lining paper. The paint I want to use is available in Dulux's endurance range as well as standard matt.
Would the qualities of endurance, i.e easier to clean marks work as well on lining paper or would it need to be on plastered walls to work?
Hope I have picked the right sub forum
As the title says are hinges standard sizes? I enclose a photo of a cupboard hinge I want to replace with a 170 degree hinge so that it opens fully? Do I measure the diameter of the round hole it slots into on the door?
I have purchased a wooden gazebo kit which is 2.4m square. It comes with drive-in post anchors. I am habving trouble loading the image but it is the right hand photo on the link below. The blade part of the anchor is 45cm (although the photo is a bit stretched so it appears much longer)...
Thanks both. The rafter brackets look almost exactly like what i need the only difference being the bracket in my photo has a little lip at the end which attaches to a wooden beam inside the garage, not sure about attaching the brackets in the photo as the holes are on the angles so wouldnt meet...
I am looking for some brackets like the one in the photo which jold the guttering in place on my garage. Normal brackets wont do as the roof overlaps the wall. I dont think you can buy these brackets as the garage was built from a kit quite some time ago. Does anyone know of anywhere that could...
Thanks hoping to keep the posts though.
Heres a wider picture showing more of the front, looks wise I think it will be okay and im thinking the fact theres bricks on the side and the top of the porch could be plaster boarded for the ceiling. Not sure how much it would all cost though...
