Overflow from vented C/H exp tank dripping - but ball cock not at fault?

Hi :) I've got a open/vented system in my 1990's two story house. There are two tanks in the attic, one large cold water tank, and one smaller c/h expansion tank. Both tanks are fed by 15mm cold mains via a ball valve. The overflow pipe from the smaller tank drips (slowly, but regularly -...

To board or not to board?

Hi :D Continuing my DIY plastering adventures, having done two bathrooms and smoothed over a couple of ceilings, I'm going to have a crack at the conservatory pictured. Wife wants all the brick plastered, to be finished ready for paint (no tiling). I've never plastered onto bare...

    How to deal with this...

Cheers for the responses - the screwheads you can see are whwre I raised a section on the t&g (glued tounge) boards to replace With 18mm ply under the shower tray and the bit on the right was a small peice I took up just to move a radiator pipe into the wall so I could have angled valves on...

    How to deal with this...

P.S ignore the stuff on the tray - its just dead weight to hold it down while the sealant around the base of the wall panels dries. Also, I won't be using that tubbed adhesive, it's leftover from a previous job. The powered stuff under the hoover is for this floor :D Tom

    How to deal with this...

Hi :D First, the picture; When I installed the shower tray, I replaced that section of floorboard with 18mm ply, levelled it with packers and laid it on a solid bed of bonding plaster. To be level, it needed the left hand side raising about 6-7mm as you can see by the gap in the...

    Do I need a non-return valve here?

Hi :D Just plumbing in a new bathroom. It makes logical sense in the room to plumb the sink waste into the pan connector so it flows into the soil pipe. I've bought a right angle pan connector that has a 32mm socket on it to take the sink waste. Should I be putting a non return valve...

Shower Panels - Fit behind tray or on-top of tray?

Alright cheers mate, will go with that! Sadly however, I just noticed that the tray has a huge crack across the back of it, so I've got to wait till Tuesday for a replacement before I can bed the new one down and fit the panels....

Can I use this pre-cast Flue? (pics)

Cheers - any reason why no one would want to fit a balanced flue fire through the wall instead?

Shower Panels - Fit behind tray or on-top of tray?

Hi :D I ask this in the Tiling Forum rather than in woodwork because I guess Shower Panels are closer to tiling than anything else! Anyway, I'm fitting three shower panels around a shower tray. - The tray is 1200x900mm - I've got two 900mm panels and one 1200mm panel...

Can I use this pre-cast Flue? (pics)

Oh dear, Well, after posting this on 'rated people' thre times, and each time the job expired without any interest from a single gas man. I've rung around everyone 'Gas Safe' in my local area and still found nobody willing to take on the job... The only interested party are the local...

Can I use this pre-cast Flue? (pics)

Thanks very much for all the responses. Since one or two people mentioned dimensions, the flue is 90mm x 325mm. I've posted a job up on the 'RatedPeople' website for someone to come and inspect it to determine fit for use or not (we're in Bristol, should any of you be nearby!)... I'm...

Can I use this pre-cast Flue? (pics)

I see.......why did housing developers bother to install them if they are good as worthless? How much should I be looking at to install a balanced flue gas fire (ground floor), assuming I expand the gap as necessary and fit the hearth/surround myself? Cheers for the input, Tom

Can I use this pre-cast Flue? (pics)

Hi :D I've recently moved into a new house, and an doing some renovations. We're trying to get a gas ire put into the lounge. There was no fire there originally, but, having found a capped-off gas pipe on the wall, explored a bit to find a pre-cast flue hidden behind the plasterboard. The...

    How to seal parallel threads?

Hi :) I'm doing an upstairs bathroom and have just fitted one of the lovely 'Bathstore' triple shower valves (hot in, cold in, bath filler out, shower out). The threads mounted inside the valve seemed unusual so I called bathstore and asked how to connect to them. They advised using...
