Thanks for the response. So what's the difference between a Class 1 and a Class 2 cowl?

I have been told that a property that I rent out needs to have its chimney cowl removed and replaced as the flue is Class 1 and the cowl is Class 2. The cowl fitted is pretty similar to the one shown in the picture below ie it looks like a terracotta ridge tile fixed on top of the chimney pot...

I need to replace the syphon on my cistern but the wingnuts are rusted to the threaded lengths of fixing bolt. Are there any tricks to removing the wing nuts without snapping them off? I've sprayed lubricating fluid and left to soak in but they won't budge :?

Can anyone tell me the manufacturers name for the syphon shown in the pictures below. Also, what should I expect to pay for a replacement one. Thanks.

I had a large wagon deliver some stone for my driveway a while ago and the wagon cracked one of the 3'x2' flags on the pavement outside my house and several other flags are uneven and really need taking-up and relaying. Are there any rules for carrying out such works on the public footpath?

Thanks LJW61. I rang round a couple of places today and can get Johnstones bituminous paint for either £8.23 for 2.5 litres or £14.82 for 5 litres. I was quite pleased with that as I have to say, I was expecting to pay more :lol:

I have just had my house rendered and tyroleaned and now need to paint the brickwork between the underneath of the bellcast (which is just above DPC level) and the outside ground level. What is the correct paint to use for this particular area. I wasn't sure whether standard gloss or...

Thanks for the responses. A couple of quick questions regarding the correct Installation of the gully and short length of pipe for connection onto the existing. BTW, I am having the whole driveway excavated out to about 300mm deep and then stoned up with 8" of MOT 1 (40mm to dust) next week...

I need to fit a couple of new plastic rainwater gullies. I only need about a 1ft length of pipe from each new gully, down to get me past the 1st socket on the existing salt glazed pipes which I am connecting onto. I already have some offcut lengths of black above ground 110mm dia. soil pipe...

Yes that's got the heat back on, everything is now working fine. Many thanks rocks1. The strange thing is that on the couple of occasions that this 'no heat' fault has shown itself previously, I have never used the reset button :roll: Very strange. I always turn the timer dial back to '0'...
