10mm pipe earth bonding / clamp

Just a quick question please. The smallest earth clamps i can find make reference to a minimum pipe size of 12mm. The pipes in my bathroom are 10mm, I assume this will still fit okay? Are there any alternatives? Where I need to fit this clamp it is a bit of a tight spot. How short /...

    Earthing a radiator

So it sounds as though I do not need to earth it anyway?? :? If I do, I don't really have access to the pipes under the floor. As the piping goes behind the plasterboard wall I could probably cut away some of that and connect it up to some of the piping there. The current radiator...

    Earthing a radiator

At the moment I have a convential white radiator in bathroom and I want to replace it with a towel radiator. Looking behind the current radiator there is an earth wire coming out of a hole in the plasterboard connected to it. Obviously if I fit a towel radiator this wire is going to be...

    Cutting chipboard with jigsaw

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I sussed what the main problem was. I was clamping a staight bit of metal to the wood to use as a guide for the jigsaw. This mean't that the jigsaw had no room for minor movement and therefore mean't that the blade had to do the moving instead. I...

    Digging up lawn

Well I did wonder..... TO be fair the old lawn isn't too full of weeds etc...just bare and uneven. Maybe back to plan A and a turf cutter! Are they as easy as they look...i.e. the turf can just be rolled up once you have gone over it with the cutter?

Hi Guys, I am currently in the process of refurbishing the garden. The next part of the project is to dig up and relay a new lawn. My original intention was to use a turf cutter and dump the old lawn in a skip, but i have since had a thought of just rotavating it before leveling it off...

    Sawing Laminated Wood

I haven't bought one yet. Any you care to recommend for a casual, but reasonably decent DIY'er? I probably will not use it a huge amount so I assume I could get away with a basic one and then just invest in a top quality blade?

    Sawing Laminated Wood

Hi there. I have some laminated wood I need to cut down to size. My concern is cutting it without the laminate splintering. Is there a technique or specific circular saw blade to use to prevent this? i.e. certain make or specific number of teeth?

Chasing Cables - Safety Question - How deep?

Thanks guys. The wall is plasterboard on dabs on the plasterboard so there is a gap of say 1cm between plasterboard and wall. By the time you have scart, vga, component, co-axial you need a fair amount of space. I probably wouldn't need to cut as much out if I was happy to make the...

I have just fitted my TV to the wall and now I need to make the cables disappear into the wall!! The wall in question in plasterboard on breeze block. I reckon I need to chase a depth of about 3 cm's, a width of 11cm's and length of a foot. Is this safe?

    Bathroom light

Thanks for that. I read the FAQ but there is nothing like a bit of reassurance. If I can't fit them all into the new terminal block does it matter if all of the wires are not in the same terminal block? I.e. leave the loops in the existing block and run the live, neutral and earth to...
