Central Heating - Flushing or Cleaning

So what you're suggesting is to somehow connect up (on a temporary basis of course) from the cold main, directly to pipe that comes out the bottom of the expansion tank. Open the bleed screws on the upstairs rads, and wait for all the air to come out. Doing this, the mains pressure water...

Central Heating - Flushing or Cleaning

Pump is in a really difficult to get to place, so haven't been able to put it on full speed (although it could be on full already!). Yes, when I drained down, the tank emptied completely.

Central Heating - Flushing or Cleaning

Yes Bottom rads fill. Top rads remain empty. On the new rad I installed. I could remove the rad - leave the valves open, and nothing would come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Central Heating - Flushing or Cleaning

I know the answer to some of this, as when the problem first appeared, I thought I'd re-fill the system with fresh water. I isolated the expansion tank in the loft. I then drained the system down. And then re-filled the system. Same problem. Upstairs rads didn't fill - the...

Central Heating - Flushing or Cleaning

So if I have sucked some gunk into the system, what can I do to clear it?

Central Heating - Flushing or Cleaning

Yes, I can confirm the downstairs rads fill up with no problem. I didn't bleed the pump, but can confirm the downstairs rads warm up without any problems

Central Heating - Flushing or Cleaning

My mother has recently decorated her bedroom and decided that she wanted a new radiator (one of the new convector types), so I drained down the system, removed the old rad, fitted the new one (including a new thermostatic valve and lockshield). I then re-filled the system (expansion tank in...

    Joining Cast Iron to Plastic

Thanks for this information - most helpful Do you think PlumbCenter stock these timesaver couplings, or are they normally something they have to get in specially? The next thing is - what's the best thing to get a sample of this pipe out, so I can take it to the shop? Do you think an...

    Joining Cast Iron to Plastic

Am putting in a new bathroom for my elderly parents, and have stripped the old bathroom back to nothing, and am planning to replace all the waste and copper, as some of it is imperial rather than metric, so I thought it better to start from scratch. The one job I need to start on is the soil...

Help with Labgear HDU681 Distribution Unit...

Administrators of the forum, please feel free to move this thread into a more suitable category if there is one, as I couldn't find one. We've recently done a ton of work in our lounge, and one of the things I wanted to do was install a system that would pump the Sky+, UHF, VHF and DAB...

    Wiring Diagram

Well, yes really. I've got two different types and I'm not sure which way round they go, but I think they go across the alarm and tamper connections.

    Wiring Diagram

I've been reliably informed that somewhere on this forum is a wiring diagram on how to install resistors on PIRs. I've looked, then looked again, and looked again, but can't find it anywhere. Has anyone got any idea where I can find it?

Thanks Saxondale I'm really p****d off I can't get that expander module working, but I've tried everything I can think of, so I can waste any more of my life worrying about it! LOL I think the software version I've got (v2.6) must be slightly different to what you're talking about. I go...

Saxondale - you're an absolute legend - thanks for your continued help. I know that it's highly unlikely, but if you ever buy yourself a Vincent Motorcycle, log onto the forum that I run (www.vincentownersclub.co.uk) and I'd love to be able to return the favour. Anyway, back to the...

    Gardiner Technology - Gardtec 816

Hey - denford, saxondale and europlex - thanks for all your help with my project so far. I've connected up a remote keypad, a PIR and an external box, then powered up my GardTec 816 panel. Luckily for me, the engineer code has been reset to 1234, so I was able to stop it making a noise. I...
