    Wireless CCTV

Thanks for the response. Not sure what the requirement is with the Arlo, but the blink system just uses AA lithium batteries and the concensus seems to be that you’ll get two years out of them which seems fine.

    Wireless CCTV

Hi all, Just looking for some basic advice please. We’ve had a few break in’s recently close to us and although it would never stop opportunists, a bit of peace of mind with some CCTV would be good for me. I want to go wireless purely for ease of installation. I know a majority of people here...

Replacing power feed from house to detached garage

Hi all, Thanks for your replies. Just to confirm that yes this has been tested by an electrician who I would then have do the install. I would simply be there to observe out of interest, lift flags, dig and make cups of tea . It’s definately the cable, all disconnected in the garage and still...

Replacing power feed from house to detached garage

Hi all, Just looking for peoples opinions regarding how I plan to have some electrical work carried out to see if I’m being sensible about this. Unfortunately I’ve had an issue in the last week where the power supply from my main fuse box in the house to the garage has caused a fault meaning...

Condensation in the kitchen - cold water pipe from toilet

As for the bathroom ventilation, this has an extractor which seems to work fine, it’s purely the cold water coming into the cistern into a warmer room surely that’s causing the condensation there?

Condensation in the kitchen - cold water pipe from toilet

Hi all, Bit of a mixed one this and I think I know the route of the issue but wanted to see if I’m looking at this all correctly. In the photo is our kitchen/diner wall. After cooking on Sunday (which was quite a lot of boiling) the wall showed an outline of the cold water pipe behind the...

    Moisture on chimney breast

Hi all, Apologies if this should be posted in another section but it seems to touch on a few areas so I thought building would be the best to cover all bases... Earlier in the spring I noticed some spots of what appears to be damp patches on the chimney breast in the bedroom of the house. As a...

Correct method for fixing a gate post to a brick wall

It’s a wooden post. Just not a fan from when I’ve used them before, other fixings just seem more straight forward.

    Garden gate

Can I ask what the best method is for fixing a gate post to a brick wall. I want to avoid Rawl bolts, usually I’d Rawl plug and screw fix something on but I’ve seen people suggest thunder bolt or masonry bolt type fixings?

Correct method for fixing a gate post to a brick wall

hi all, I need to fit a gate post to a brick wall this weekend. Fixing wise I want to avoid Rawl bolts as I’m not a big fan. Otherwise I guess my options are Rawl plus and positive/screw fixing or a thunderbolt/screw bolt fixing directly into the brickwork. Are there pros and cons with either...

    Garden gate

Hi, I’ve come across the below gate for the garden which looks ideal, however apparently this hinges to the left (when looking at the front of it) and I need one which can be hinged to the right...

Waste pipe to underside of ceramic sink.

Sorry, just re-read that.... the cold weather has already done it’s work and it’s got about 5 cracks in it. So really it could do with replacing rather than patching up.

Waste pipe to underside of ceramic sink.

Waste pipe to underside of ceramic sink.

Thanks for that. Will the outlet hole in the sink likely be a standard size that I can get a plastic fitting for? Will lead be difficult to hack away?

Waste pipe to underside of ceramic sink.

Hi all, Bit of a novice to with plumbing jobs but in my garage there’s an old Belfast sink all plumbed up with the waste going to the outside drain. To the underside there’s the waste pipe with a u bend, however this seems to be metal and looks as though it’s bonded to the underside of the...

    Boiler control question

Hi, I've a question on my boiler layout which I've attached photos of. I turned the wall thermostat I have right down to off last night. However the heating was on when I came home this evening. Can anyone tell me what the box is to the top of the control panel I have? It looks like the...

Thank you for that, the mower is on it's highest possible setting at the moment. I'll look into having the blades sharpened though. Any ideas from anyone else would be much appreciated! Thanks!

What am I doing wrong with my lawn?!

I'm hoping someone can give me a few pointers.... I had this at my last house, different lawn mower and tried all the basics to keep a healthy lawn but I'm having the same problem here. I cut it about once a week but it always just looks like it has dry yellow patches throughout. As I say I had...

    help.... plaster around window frame

Hi, I've had my plasterer come and price up for some work in my living room and he's due to start this week. However I've ripped down some timber work which was effectively just a curtain pole blocking out loads of light and I've got a strange set up around the top of my window now. Just...
