    Thanks for the info. The British Gas guy replaced the regulator on the mains supply coming into the meter at the front of the house. He then reset the boiler as he had turned off the gas. It has stopped flashing and all seems well. Thanks again.

    Ah Ha !! - Fixed it !!! The spring has a shorter bit. You put the shorter bit against the lock housing and then bend the longer end back on itself, resting it in the groove of the actual brass lock. Now fixed and sorted. To stop the 'snib' falling off I've put some thick carpet tape...

    Been able to get a coat hanger down the hole and unlock the deadlock. However !!!! i seem to have bent the internal spring as the lock hinge won't spring back. I haven't got a clue how it should work??
