    Modulator Problem

Hello all. I've installed a diy cctv system to my house and wired it so that all the TVs can view it. The signal coming from the camera is pretty sharp, until I feed it through the modulator (which I need to in order to convert the scart). After that, the image becomes very grainy and has...

Painting MDF Alcove and Wardrobe Units

Now, at the risk of sounding a bit gormless: 1. How do I think down oil based primer? Water?? 2. Can you recommend anything (nothing fancy - perhaps just something from the screwfix catalogue?) on the primer front 3. How about a paint that I could use? 4. I assume I dont need to sand after...

Painting MDF Alcove and Wardrobe Units

Any idea as to the order in which I do the panels? I assume I don't just approach it in bish-bash-bosh style?

Painting MDF Alcove and Wardrobe Units

Hi, I'm having a carpenter build some MDF Alcove and Wardrobe Units for me (you know the type of thing - every Victorian or similar house in the whole of the UK seems to have them - apart from mine). And I get the lucky job of painting them this weekend (not at 4pm on Saturday, though  )...

    Home CCTV System

Thanks that's really helpful. One last thing - the loft box needs F-plugs to be plugged in to it. This might sound like a stupid question, but will the RF modulator http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=AV10363&N=411 be able to have this output??? Nearly there...

    Home CCTV System

Thanks, here goes again: Thanks, that's helpful. I though the loftboxs were intended for this type of thing. Here's the link (and hopefully it'll work this time): here Could another option be to convert the scart to RF (if that's possible - I've never seen it before). Then out it...

    Home CCTV System

Hi all. I've recently bought and installed one of these.[/url]http://www.micromark.co.uk/epages/micromark.filereader?439f002c001d3c2e27400a020f650570+EN/products/MM23255 It has a SCART socket that needs to be plugged into a TV. Does anyone know any way of being able to wire so that the...

    Glass breakfast bar

Does anyone know where I might be able to source some of the chrome mounts that you can get a glass/granite breakfast bar to sit on top of? I'm sourcing the reinforced (10mm?) glass myself, but I've got no idea where to get the bits for it to sit on. :? Here's a link to the type of thing...

    ELICA

Thanks, that's useful to know as I don't know very much about Baumatic hoods. Does anyone else have any views? Like whether it'll pack-up the day after its warranty runs out...... Thanks.

    ELICA

James H - I've seen a Baumatic with a 1000m3 rating for about £400 (which does seem very cheap), if that's of interest to you. I'm also considering that one.

    ELICA

Anyone heard of this brand and have an opinion on them? Am thinking of installing one of their chimney hoods. They seem to be much cheaper than Neff/Smeg etc Thanks.

    Aluminium v UPVC

Fair point. Now I know that this must sound like blasphemy to you but do you have a view on which you would go for (if you were absolutely forced to!) between PVCu and aluminium?

    Aluminium v UPVC

Biff, has to come down to cost and simply can't afford it  i've had a quote for both to be made from hardwood and it works out at approximately double.

    Aluminium v UPVC

Hi, am installing some (double-glazed) French doors as well as a (double-glazed) conservatory-type roof over an extension. Need them to be white. The options are white PVCU or (I believe) painted white Aluminium. There seems to be a lot more PVCU around than Aluminium. Is there any...

Stupid question - sorry. Chimney lined?

Thanks Kevplumb :D . Last stupid question of the morning, I imagine that the liner doesn't have any gaps all the way up the chimney breast? That way, when I attach my extractor hood to it, it won't be pumping out those nasty cooking smells to the other bedrooms which have fire places off it...

Stupid question - sorry. Chimney lined?

what does a liner look like? Is it as simple as that?

Stupid question - sorry. Chimney lined?

I know it's a silly question  , but is there a simple way I can check (other than pay someone to come and check?) If it helps, it used to be used as a boiler flue (I now want to use it for an extractor hood). Thanks.

Range Cooker - Any advice on Brands to go for/avoid?

Have now narrowed down my choices to either a Smeg or a Brittania duel-fuel range. Never heard of Brittania, and don't Smegs tend to break down a lot? Any views on which of these to opt for in terms of reliability of the brands? Both pretty much have the same functions. Cheers, J
