Bypass Valve still flowing when fully wound down

No, that's the number, and very clear. Have I got a counterfeit?

Bypass Valve still flowing when fully wound down

I think I'm onto something. Agile set me thinking. I've looked at the thermostatic valve on the last radiator, a Drayton TRV4. I've removed the body an measured the plunger movement as 8mm. That's all the way from Maximum down to the frost symbol. But looking at the pin in the valve it only...

Bypass Valve still flowing when fully wound down

Agile... I've screwed the ABV down to its maximum which I gather is about 0.6 but it's still flowing. Pump is set to 3

Bypass Valve still flowing when fully wound down

Thanks for your continued input. The pump is a Super Selectric part nr 96281473. I struggle to identify the ABV. It's a 22mm connected with reducers to a 15mm bypass that's sited just before the heating Honeywell and dumps back into the heating return about 30cm before the the T from the...

Bypass Valve still flowing when fully wound down

ps... I see there is know way of balancing the flow to the hot water cylinder. shutting the water's Honeywell valve does improve the flow to the final radiator. Should it have been fitted with a lock shield when it was renewed?

Bypass Valve still flowing when fully wound down

OK - Correction Looking at my notes it's a 428 (not 438) and I know this is still over specced. The Vaillant engineer (not the installer) backed it off to the eqivalent of a 418 (he said). I'm hoping that changes your conclusion

Bypass Valve still flowing when fully wound down

But I have the boiler now. Perhaps I've not made my problem clear. It's the boiler that is only firing for short periods. The pump is continuous while the thermostat is calling. I'm trying to work out why the pump is not delivering a good flow to the final radiator. Is it being undermined by...

Bypass Valve still flowing when fully wound down

House is not that big but it is very poorly insulated. Mainly old period windows that let in huge drafts. It has 8 radiators. The Vaillant engineer has adjusted it down with the electronic controls. (I understand from this process that it is also possible to adjust a smaller boiler up!). The...

Bypass Valve still flowing when fully wound down

I have a conventional (Loft Feed Tank and S Plan) system with a Vaillant 438 Boiler. I'm struggling to get flow to the final radiator. Most of the others have the adjustment valve virtually screwed down. The (new) boiler does not fire that often and probably only fires for 30 seconds. I'm...

Five Finger Parquet not sticking to Concrete

Wickes adhesive for wood block floors. I don't have a device for measuring moisture. In a shop I've been led to believe that SIKA MB will do the job. Any views?

Five Finger Parquet not sticking to Concrete

Managed to get a matching five finger parquet in Merbau to lay in my kitchen so that it matches the rest of the ground floor in my 1956 house. Needed to repair a corner of the concrete floor where a boiler plinth had been. Rest of the floor had Marley tiles. Rest of house has the parquet glued...

    Boiler above Hot Cylinder

When the boiler is above the cylinder where should the Air Separator be sited? Does it go at Boiler height?

well it was a very small note!

    Boiler above Hot Cylinder

Sorry. I didn't make myself clear. The old boiler (and presumably the new) needs a bypass valve. The question is whether it should stay as a standard gate valve (cracked open) or an automatic valve.

    Boiler above Hot Cylinder

So pump OK. I was expecting that an Air Separator was needed but hadn't come across the surge arrestor. More Googling. I also saw a set up with an automatic air vent on the highest point. I don't have this. A well known (and probably the largest) plumbing company in London also stated that I...
