    Loose Floor Tiles

On the walls, our tiler was a dab and fix tiler rather than all over screed. I did not see the floor tiling go down. We now have 3 loose floor tiles. Unfortunately on of them goes under the toilet base. Can I lift and re-fix them, and if so what is the best procedure? The floor did have ply...

Which camera to monitor internal entrance door to flat?

I am looking for a neat wifi camera to sit above and monitor the internal entrance door to my flat. The stairway has natural light during the day, and is lit all night. I want a camera which will immediately activate my android phone (without any delay) when someone approaches my door. This...

    A Bit Of A Puzzle!

We are in a 5 year old property. About 6 to 8 months ago our 220v - 240v 5W GU10 led bathroom down lights would only switch on intermittently. It is a Jack and Jill bathroom, so there are switches at each entrance. One is a double switch which controls the down lights and extractor. The...

End of Adobe Flash and IP Cameras

Although they are now about 5 years old, they are still for sale on Amazon etc. The spec does not say you must use Flash and my technical knowledge would not have alerted me to check into this aspect. Google will absolutely stop using Flash in December 2020, so I have until then before I...

End of Adobe Flash and IP Cameras

Unfortunately Firefox is not available for chromebooks and chromebox. Yes the manufacturer does provide software but it also requires Adobe Flash to operate.

End of Adobe Flash and IP Cameras

I have no choice. My chromebook and chromebox uodates automatically. Not updating would also affect function in due course.

End of Adobe Flash and IP Cameras

I need Adobe Flash in order to operate my UCAM 247 IP cameras. It has already been phased out but Google Chrome will absolutely not support it after December 2020. I don't know if this will affect other IP cameras as well. Does anyone know about this and what can be done to keep Flash dependant...

13 amp switched FCU for led strip

Thanks for your suggestion. Generally a good idea and an extra socket would come in handy. However, I have 2 floating glass shelves stacked one above the other. I want to light them both up and don't want any trailing wires down the wall. It would be easier and cheaper just to plug the...

Fernox F1 Omega and no inhibitor?

Thanks for your reply. It seems sensible. I probably should not say this, because I know you are a Spirotech MB3 fan. The engineer has persuaded me to replace the MB3 with the Fernox TF1 Omega filter. I was persuaded because some online reviews and engineers did say that the MB3 was not that...

13 amp switched FCU for led strip

OK, sloppy wording! One word was missing. I should have said "spurring of the 13 amp ring main (socket) using only a 13 amp switched FCU". I am going to replace the 13 amp fuse with a 3 amp one, however, I will utilise a 13 amp switched FCU. The led strip will be hard wired into the switched...

13 amp switched FCU for led strip

Am I correct in my approach of spurring of the 13 amp ring main using only a 13 amp switched FCU to link directly to the 12v transformer for the led strip?

Fernox F1 Omega and no inhibitor?

Thanks for your quick reply. I have the Spirotech MB3 filter and it has never leaked. I hope that the Spirovent is as good in that respect. I suppose with an air valve that opens and closes to the outside there is more of a potential for that, unlike the closed Spirotech.

Fernox F1 Omega and no inhibitor?

Hi ScottishGasMan. I have bought the Spirovent RV2 and am awaiting delivery. However, since buying I have looked at other Spirovent threads and someone said they stopped installing them because 80% of them leak. Have you found that they leak? I am a little bit worried that I may have made a...

Fernox F1 Omega and no inhibitor?

Thanks for the replies. The Viessmann Vitodens 100 has a built in pressure gauge. I wasn't aware of a Spirotech Spirovent although when the system was first installed I was aware that the Germans utilise some form of deoxygenation system with their Viessmann boilers rather than using...

Fernox F1 Omega and no inhibitor?

I have just discovered that a Spirotech MB3 filter I had fitted was installed wrongly. It was fitted on the flow pipe rather than the return. The system is 5 years old and after 5 annual services only the latest Viessmann c.h. engineer noticed it. He specialises in Viessmann and really seems...

    Black C.H. Water

Tony, thanks for your comments. We are ripped off here. Klondike pricing is still going on, unfortunately. I found Viessmann to be unhelpful re the inhibitor. Basically "that's our rules, end of." Given their stance, I would be up against it, if I did have a boiler problem, and they decided...

    Black C.H. Water

I contacted Viessmann today. It is correct that they do not approve of inhibitor. It seems that Viessmann UK are adopting the German approach. They said that their boiler warranty would be void if it was negatively affected by inhibitor. I wonder how many installers and home owners are...

    Black C.H. Water

Thanks Doggit for your further comments. I may appear to be over worrying and I will admit I am a belt and braces kind of guy, however, we had a really bad experience in a previous new build property (1999) which does induce an element of concern. It was a plastic piped system and within a...

    Black C.H. Water

"potable water and no inhibitors" - that has really confused matters now!! RTFB. This is a German manufactured boiler, and I have read somewhere that they don't use inhibitors in Germany, but they use some sort of deoxygenating system instead. I don't have the space to install such a piece...

    Black C.H. Water

Many thanks for your detailed reply Phod. I am not regularly topping up. The pressure only drops very slightly over 6 months, ie about 0.25 bar. When I do top up at 6 months it is only a quick squirt.
