    Amtico & Karndean versus B&Q...?

Hi all, I know there's been a few discussions here about Amtcio, Karndean and other Luxury Vinyl Tile floor companies. I want to put LVT in my bathroom, which is only about 6 sq m, and have been quoted over £600 for Amtico, circa £500 for Karndean. That's just way out of my budget. Just been to...

Putting vinyl tiles on bathroom floor - how to fill gaps

Thanks Jay. Haven't bought any ply yet so will go for the WPB. As for the Ardex stuff - again it only seems to come in large amounts for upwards of £30. It's not a large room, so was hoping not to spend that much.. But maybe it's worth it?

Bathroom flooring with vinyl tiles - around or under the loo & sink?

Hi, I've read lots of threads, here and elsewhere, about whether to remove the furniture (ie. loo and sink) before putting down new flooring in a bathroom, then replacing furniture on top of new floor, to achieve a neat finish. I believe the usual thing with a roll of vinyl is not to remove the...

Vinyl tiles on bathroom floor: tile under or around loo?

Whoops. seem to have duplicated a message here. Hope this one can be removed to avoid confusion.

Putting vinyl tiles on bathroom floor - how to fill gaps

Morning, I'm going to re-floor our bathroom, by putting down marine ply over the (very old) floorboards, then putting vinyl tiles over the ply. Can anyone recommend the product I should use for smoothing over any gaps in the ply, including little dips left by recessed screws? I believe the...

    Strimmers - blade or line?

Just read this review of the Stihl FSE52 on the Which? website: "The bump feed worked well, but if the line broke off completely we found it very difficult to feed out more line. The cover over the line is tricky to get off, and line is encased in a solid plastic reel. We had to break this open...

    Strimmers - blade or line?

Thanks John. With my old strimmer (a rather cheap Bosch) I always did the bumping while the power was running, so maybe that was the trouble? And more often than not the line just disappeared and was a right pain to get out again. I have just started out as a self-employed mower/strimmer so need...

    Strimmers - blade or line?

Hi, Needing to buy a new strimmer. I find that I can't get along with the ones where you have to bump-feed a line and am thinking of trying a plastic blade instead. I'd like a corded one - not battery or petrol. Does any one have any recommendations for a corded strimmer that users either a...

Creating a stone/gravel/concrete track.. Anyone done it?

Hi there, We live somewhat off the beaten track. There's currently no vehicular access to our house, so we park on a road and then walk across common land to get to the house. We're a bit tired of negotiating the mudslide that this path becomes every winter, and tired of carrying stuff up and...

Insulating conservatory with Celotex - advice please

Hi, I have a bit of Celotex left over from a previous project and am thinking of using it to insulate our conservatory roof (the Celotex is only 25mm thick but I'll probably double it up). The roof is polycarbonate, with timber rafters. I'll cut the Celotex to fit snugly into the shapes made by...
