    My £180 4CH CCTV Setup - A Review

Quick snap I've just taken of the new and better iPhone App: The only downside is quite a stupid one as you have to use the default password in the DVR leaving me open to having my cameras hacked. Luckily I don't really care as they're not in my bedroom or bathroom! Will add an...

CCTV viewable via 3G on iphone

This is my setup that I view over my 3G/4G iPhone, even cheaper if you're only looking to run one Camera as it was something like £89.99 with the one camera IIRC. The experts on here will tell you it's crap, will break etc. but so far so good for me. Fair enough it won't produce crystal...

Shed Wiring - a few questions

Thanks for the replies everyone, some key points I need to update then! - the supply to the shed will be SWA cable from a dedicated MCB in the main house Consumer Unit. This will be done by a qualified sparky so I don't fry myself. It will hook up to a Garage Consumer Unit in the shed with 2...

Shed Wiring - a few questions

Hi, as it's just a shed I'm going to wire it up myself for the challenge and the cost saving then have someone check it for me when they connect the Garage Consumer Unit to my main one. I've put together a diagram of what I intend to do, here (light connection picture taken from this forum)...

Screwfix Circular Saw - £30, any good?

Thanks - this is the route I've gone before, however, I need to measure and precisely cut each board as I'm using them to line a shed for an office conversion. I'd have to be very confident on my measurements to get B&Q to do it! I'd also need a bigger car as some are 8ft long so won't fit...

Screwfix Circular Saw - £30, any good?

It's a tough one as I pretty much figured for my light use it would be OK - but then that one review put me off. With the loan Dewalt I now see no need to pay the £30 and have the ballache of returning it if it's crap! I have ten boards, each should need only two cuts, so 20 cuts to make in...

Screwfix Circular Saw - £30, any good?

I just stumbled across this review too, panicked, text a mate who is the other side of the M25 and it sppears he's passing me tomorrow so dropping off his 18v cordless dewalt, bingo! Shall cancel the Screwfix order.

Screwfix Circular Saw - £30, any good?

Ok, so I need to cut 10 sheets of 11mm OSB2 to line the shed and only have hand and Jig saws. I saw this Circular Saw for £30 in Screwfix so ordered it with a bunch of other stuff I have coming on Thursday. Does it look any good, will the supplied blade be OK for the 11mm OSB2 or will it...

Potterton Prima 50F Boiler Issue! HELP!

Hence the 'parts and labour are FOC' but clearly I'm aware I pay £21 a month for the cover, so £252 p/a. Would have been cheaper (around £15 pcm I think) had I not taken out the policy because I had an existing issue, For the work I've had done I cannot see it would be cheaper to pay...

Potterton Prima 50F Boiler Issue! HELP!

I'm no expert at all but have the same boiler and last year it was whirring and clicking but not firing up - new PCB required. I took out British Gas home serve/care, whatever it's called, policy for £21pcm the first time we had boiler problems and it's served us really well. They always come...

How do I fit insulation boards?

[/url] Hi ban-all sheds, topical name! - I'll look up installation reference method A, thanks, as I know nothing about this or 'de-rating' the cabling - supply to the shed will be SWA cable run externally from the main consumer unit and into a garage consumer unit mounted on the OSB3...

How do I fit insulation boards?

Random, wouldn't expect that. I guess I could run conduit behind and through the boards to protect the cable as I'll be running Cat6 cable too. Depends if my boards I get are PIR/PUR (Recticel are IIRC) I might put a separate post in the relevant section so some electricians can advise as...

How do I fit insulation boards?

Good idea on the nails, would make it easier if my cutting is off (as it likely will be!) How about cable runs for sockets, run the twin and earth 2.5mm through the air gap along the floor and then just poke it through the insulation to get it to each surface mounted socket?

How do I fit insulation boards?

Foil backed/fronted polystyrene, I thought Kingspan was in this category but obviously not! I was looking at Recticel from Jewsons anyway but hoping to find something a bit cheaper. I think this is basically polystyrene with foil on each side? Friction fit it is then, I thought there may be...

How do I fit insulation boards?

Sounds like a stupid question, however, I'm going to use 50mm Kingspan/Celotex/Recticel to insulate a T&G 19mm tannalised shed. I plan to fit it between the 3" x 2" framework then fix OSB3 on top. I have never used these products before and I'm pretty poor at DIY so I'm wondering how to...

    Is this loft convert-able?

Funnily enough I thought the same when I posted the picture, however, when in the loft earlier it felt much bigger so maybe the angle of the picture gives a bad perspective. Maybe I'm best just putting a loft hatch/ladder in and boarding it out for light storage. If I can convert at an OK...

    Is this loft convert-able?

If it helps, here is a picture I've found of the roof from the outside:
