    Boiler Replacement

Indeed it is, you have 5 days to report any problems with the CH/hot water system. I wouldn't have thought there is much debate about whether the problem is a defect or a feature but I guess a couple of independant plumbers opinions would soon settle the matter.

    Boiler Replacement

As you've raised the issue with your solicitor in the first 5 days I would just push ahead with the new boiler. Its the sellers responsibility to fix any defect in the heating system discovered up to 5 days after the completion date. You might as well get a shiny new boiler out of it!

    Viessman or Baxi

I invited a plumber round to give me a quote. These are the two he quoted for. He said he could supply any boiler I liked but he could supply these two discounted as he buys them in bulk to take advantage of any discounts they have on at the time. As I said I'm waiting for few more...

    Viessman or Baxi

There are two of us, the plumber was talking about putting in a 24kw jobbie until I told him I wanted to throw out the electric shower and put in a (hopefully) powerful mixer shower. I believe the difference in price is only a couple of hundred quid and I'd rather have over capacity than under...

    Viessman or Baxi

Cheers guys, seems pretty conclusive. The plumber was going down the line of a 24kw boiler untill I told him I wanted to rip out the electirc shower and put in a shower fed from the combi in the future.

    Viessman or Baxi

Hello, I've just had a quote to install a new ch system in a one bed flat. The plumber has quoted a price of £2700 to fit a 30kw viessman combi boiler or £3200 for a baxi platinum 32kw (with a 5 year warranty). From looking over this forum I see that viessman is highly rated by most - so is...

    Green Ooze on Gas Pipe

Cool, cheers guys :D Its a one bedroom flat and these days it only feeds a gas hob! There is a wall mounted gas fire that is never used and will be removed soon and replaced with an electric fire. The meter used to be at floor level in a cupboard in the bedroom but was moved to a high...

    Green Ooze on Gas Pipe

At the moment there are guys busy digging up the street and replacing the old metal gas pipe with a plastic one. As part of the work they are replacing the service pipes to each property - including my block of flats. On Tuesday night i came home to a letter from them saying they needed access...

Cable detectors - do they work?

I bought one from a well known shed and it was pretty much crap. No use whatsoever with lath and plaster walls for finding either studs or cables. On a plasterboard wall you could use it to trace a cable from a know location but otherwise **** poor. Save your money and buy some rubber...

    Paste The Wall Paper

Hi, I've bought some wall paper from a well know DIY shed and I notice it says to paste the walls and not the paper. Does anyone have any experience of this stuff and is it easy to use? Cheers

    LED GU10's

Perhaps not the most relevant section for this topic but I'm considering replacing my 50w halogen Gu10's (2 light fittings with 4 bulbs in each) with 2w LED GU10's. These bulbs produce a hell of an amount of heat which I don't want from a light fitting - only light. How does the light output...

    concealing a dishwasher

I don't see why you cant use an integrated dishwasher. I used a 500mm door on a 450mm slimline dishwasher - which is kindof what you're planning on doing anyway?? At least with a integrated dishwasher it won't be sitting proud of the worktop. HTH

    Dead Salamanders?

Good effort, a lot of people would have just accepted it was broken and bought a new one. Just shows what a little perseverance can do!

Painting over Kitchen and Bathroom Paint

Is there any particular tick to this? Can the new paint go straight on top of the old or does it need any preparation first?

    Replacing Kitchen Wal Units

Excellent Scrit, that rail is a genius idea. I wasn't trying to be penny pinching, i was just trying to be lazy by not having to hang new hangers since I'm replacing like for like sizewise and my wall is lath and plaster - I believe most plasterboard fixings are not suitable for lath and...
