    Testing

Hi guys Did a IR test on my CU. On my N/E all results were good (>1000) except for kitchen (42.9) lights (44.7) boiler (45.3) shower ( 44.6). I know they all pass but as a lower reading would this indicate age deterioration? Property is nearly 20 years old. Your thoughts please

Dear dingbat I am still learning hence why I am still asking. Not once did I say I was competent. Some things I am still unsure about which is why I would rather find out now before declaring I'm competent.

    Metre Tails

no it would be a metre at the most, and it wouldn't be more than three. So who would do it? There's no isolator switch but are the tails between the CU and the metre mine or DNO?

    Metre Tails

With regards to metre tails, who has the authority to extend them? I understand you can't extend them 3 metre's from the incoming supply but can't remember who can extend them. Thanks :)

    More calculations

0.5mm. Thanks for that. Couldn't work out which way round. Regs say operating current of protective device cnt be 1.45 x greater than current carrying of cable. Yet I cnt achieve this,so what do I do?

    More calculations

This is a fictional example. A kitchen ring has a design current of 26a Protection of bs60898 32a Cable will run through 0.5mm of insulation and be installed as ref. 102 in stud wall with cable touching wall. Therefore current carrying capacity= 32x0.88=28a Go to selection of cable...

    Design ideas for loft conversion

Hi guys So, my Dad has got a full loft conversion which acts as a bedroom. The current three point spot lights that are up sit on a beam that goes across the apex and doesn't look great. I was going to build a flat false ceiling running parallel with the appex and install some...
