My son is back off to uni in September but the new house he is moving into has no bedroom door locks. The landlord says that none can be fitted. I know you can get portable door locking mechanisms for locking a door internally, but is there such a device that he can lock when he leaves the room...

    Difference between GZ10 and GU10??

When my inlaws moved into a new apartment, some of the bulbs had gone in the kitchen and bathroom. I spoke to the electrical company who fitted the buildings and they told me to use a GZ10 in the bathroom and a GU10 in the kitchen, as the GU10 will not last as long in a steamy atmosphere of a...

    100 watt bulb too hot?

The shade was already off when i changed the bulb. Cannot say if its an american fitting but I would have thought highly unlikely. "Because the light bulb is hot and heat rises." So all cables get hot then?

    100 watt bulb too hot?

The lamp holder is only about 3 years old and the wire was getting quite warm too. So why would the cable get hot? I thought that maybe the wiring was wrong (that was a guess, as I don't know the first thing about electrics....bit like you don't know about family values lol (only joking))

    100 watt bulb too hot?

Thanks, I tried the energy savers but my son, who uses the room doesn't like the type of light. Perhaps I should buy a 100w holder then. Cheers

    100 watt bulb too hot?

Hi, one of my bedrooms has always been a little dark so I decided to replace the 60w bulb with a 100w one. After a few minutes I could smell something and felt the bulb holder which was very hot and also the 6inch cable to the rose was quite warm. Why should this happen?

    Emulsion build up removal

I have looked but cannot find if this has been answered before, sorry if I missed it. My double glazing has emulsion build up from years of decorating and whoever not masking the plastic properly. I have tried sugar soap but that just makes the clean bits look cleaner. Any ideas?
